Tempest
Ok first of all, if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, I suggest you go here: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=D&game_id=7479 DECO = Data East Corp. BTW So onto my question. Does anyone know if each individual game used a special dongle or if groups of games used one type of dongle? The reason I ask is because I was looking through the MAME emulation source and they seem to seperate the games under 5 different dongles. TYPE1 DONGLE (DE-0061) Test Tape Lock 'n Chase Treasure Island Super Astro Fighter Lucky Poker Terranian Explorer Pro Golf TYPE2 DONGLE (CS82-007) Mission X Disco No 1 Pro Tennis Tornado TYPE3 DONGLE Bump 'n Jump Burnin' Rubber Burger Time Graplop Cluster Buster LaPaPa Fighting Ice Hockey Pro Bowling Night Star Pro Soccer Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory TYPE4 DONGLE Scrum Try TYPE5 DONGLE Boulder Dash If I only have to find 5 different Dongles then my life is pretty easy, but if I have to find one for each specific game then I'm in trouble... Tempest
Oh and here is a good page for DECO Cassette system info: http://emustatus.rainemu.com/deep/d_cassette.htm Actually it's more like the ONLY page for DECO Cassette System information. This thing seems to have been as popular as the plague. Tempest
Cassidy Nolen
Matt already knows this, but someone may do a search one day for this info.... http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=D&game_id=7479 That is the best point to start. D/L the manual and it makes a ton more sense how it all works. Huh, you said dongle Cassidy
smspower
Tempest: the dongles are mostly different. Type 1 refer to the type of logic the dongle has, but e.g. accross type 1 the dongle prom are different and some of the logic are different as well. Same for type 3. Type 2 and type 4 aren't encrypted but I'm not sure if you can swap dongles.
Tempest
Holy crap, talk about a Necrobump. Thanks for the information. It seems impossible to find info about the DCS. I have the multiboard for my cab, but it's several years old and I hear that new tapes have been found since then. I wish there was an update available for it, but I think the whole website is gone now.
smspower
There will be a big update this year! Tempest
So what will the end result of this be? Is there going to be a new multi-board made or is it just so more games can be played in MAME? Either way I'm interested.
smspower
- possible to swap dongle and use custom cassette with game reencrypted for another dongle on real hardware. - many more games playable in mame. many new dumps and info for emulation. also the earlier, the possibility to try more games on real hardware will help emulation.
