Just finished Link to the Past, wow.

Recommended Posts

Having missed out on the SNES the first time around, I was not aware of just how TOTALLY FREAKIN' AMAZING this game is. I mean wow.

Best game for the SNES? I'd say most likely.

True to its predecessors and pushes the Zelda franchise into the future. Loads of game time, nothing but fun, and ultimately replayable, especially if you miss some of the stuff (like I missed out on 2 pieces of heart!) And groundbreaking music.

What a great, great game. I am thoroughly impressed. SNES at its very best.

Best SNES game? Dunno about THAT. It's up there, to be sure, but I'd put Final Fantasy II and Super Metroid above it.

F-Zero also still holds my interest today. What an amazing game THAT is.

And, of course, the legendary Super Mario Kart. A genre-maker.

Yes, it's a great game and very re-playable. I personally wouldn't rate it top game, top 5 maybe. I'd rate Super Metroid and Mario RPG above it myself.

Good luck getting the orginal Chrono Trigger. $50 at my local GameXchange, CIB. Wish I could get it, I'm friggin broke, but it's been there for some time, so I don't think I have to worry (yet). and it looks like ebay can get feirce too.

Gawdamn if you are just playing SNES Zelda now.. I actually ENVY you. :D That is one game I would LOVE to have my memory erased just so I can play that game from scratch again. There was one time where a number of years passed and it was sort of fresh again, but that's all out the window these days as I know every nook and cranny. And no amount of time seems to erase it.

I rate it near or at #1 for snes as well by the way. Too bad it aint replayable past... 7 or 8 times :P

Hi there!

Now this is weird. I know I loved the game back in the days, playing it start to finish on the SNES and enjoying every moment of it.

Now when it came back on the GBA, I quit probably halfway through the game, out of boredom. I even sold it again already.

Yet - it's not that I generally don't like such gameplay anymore, as Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is my #1 spot GBA favourite.

Really weird...

Greetings,

Manuel

Yep LttP is my favourite SNES game, and is generally thought of likewise by many people in the UK (and both SNES mags at the time also). So much to do and explore and puzzle over... and I still have to find that damn last quarter of heart in the digging game! 12 years it's been taunting me... I will get you eventually :x

I was also very impressed with LTTP, especially the visual graphics of the game at the time. However, I wouldn't rank it as even a top 5 for me. I stand firmly that Chrono Trigger is one of the best damn RPGs ever created for any system. The story was fresh at that time, and the overall feel of the game just gleaned with a Polished Lustery shine!

I think my main problem with LTTP was that I felt it was too easy overall compared to the other Zelda games. I have still never beaten Zelda 1 and have beaten Zelda 2 several times. But it still took me well over a week each time to beat Zelda 2. I got through LTTP in like a few days. I am sure I didn't collect everything you could, but I did explore the entire map as far as I could tell.

And as soon as I get my hands on a copy of Super Metroid for my SNES, I am sure that will be right at or just below Chrono Trigger for all time best SNES games for me.

Oh..and FF2 kicks FF3 all over the place. Sure FF3 had that cool Opera scene and I was shocked and in awe the first time I heard it and saw it. But, the story and character development is better in FF2.

:D

It's one of my favorite SNES games. I've replayed it so many times. Next time try finding every piece of heart and every weapon (including all 4 bottles). That's a challenge. Probably my favorite SNES game along with Super Mario Kart.

I did manage to locate all the bottles, but I missed 2 heart pieces, I'll need to find those! :)

I'm kind of glad it wasn't too hard to beat, but more like a fun adventure all along the way. Zelda games have always been that way. I can run through Legend of Zelda no problem, Link takes me a little more time, but still great fun. :)

An absolute classic. A beautiful, thoroughly engrossing, HELLA fun game. What more can I say?
