KIWASABI #1 Posted February 21, 2004 Hey guys, I just traded a guy my NES and unfortunately he's having trouble with it now.. I only tested it to see if it powered on and came on on the tv which it does, but he's saying after 5 minutes it just scrambles and the color gets distorted and whatnot... Anybody know what the problem is? Sounds like we need to get a new one of those 72pin deals, I hear those clear up problems like this.. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks for the help. -Adam
Happy_Dude #2 Posted February 21, 2004 yep. Sounds like the connector. Just make sure the game is clean first. Then before you buy a new connector bend the pins up on the old one, this usually works just as well. Oh yeah I have to pimp Bratwurst's frontloader mod http://www.angelfire.com/apes/madmeat/toaster1.html That will fix "Everything"
KIWASABI #3 Posted February 21, 2004 Thanks for the help.. Is there a guide anywhere about how to bend the connectors as you said? Thanks again. -Adam
JerseyDevil #4 Posted February 21, 2004 If the system works perfect for minutes and then messes up, that does not sound like it would be the connector.
Dones #5 Posted February 21, 2004 Thanks for the help.. Is there a guide anywhere about how to bend the connectors as you said? Thanks again. -Adam Do you really want to bend each little pin one by one? Although manually bending the pins does help, it's a difficult and time-consuming task. The 72-pin connector has very little room for you to stick a wire to pull and you risk breaking the metal pins while doing it (not to mention the pin alignment will be really crooked at the end). I recommend you invest on a 72-pin connector and a universal game cleaner. You can find them both at ebay for about $8 and $4 respectively. The 72-pin is well worth the investment imo. Before you go out and buy stuff, take the time to read this cleaning guide from NESPlayer.com. You will also find other useful (and entertainment info there.
