Lord-Chaos #1 Posted February 22, 2004 These 3 machines are Z80 based and seem to have similar graphics , at least MSX 1 machines. Anyone knows how different the systems are/have MSX or Sinclair games been ported to the Colecovision ?
Zaxxon #2 Posted February 22, 2004 A bunch of MSX games were ported to the CV: Antarctic Adventure, Video Hustler, Cabbage Patch Kids games, probably others. 'Opcode' here is currently porting Sky Jaguar, Yie Are Kung Fu II and a few others from MSX to CV. I don't think the Spectrum is that similar to CV or MSX. I seem to recall reading that the Spectrum has no actual graphics chip/graphics hardware and graphics are drawn to the screen in a much more primitive way. liveinabin #3 Posted February 22, 2004 The Spectrum is, as far as I know, the only one of these to suffer from 'colour clash'. The Spectrum screen is divided into blocks (each one character wide/ high). Having more than 2 colours in each block results in one colour completely taking over - ie. a great big square of colour. It's very noticable on the ADAM in SmartBasic.

Um, wasn't CPK actually ported from the CV to the MSX? It's probable that everything Konami did was designed to be easily portable between the two systems . . . As for the Spectrum, I do not think it has a graphics mode per se, and all graphics on it are character-based. But a lot of CV stuff was done the same way, so. . . intvgene #6 Posted February 23, 2004 I thought that the Sega SG-1000/SC-3000 also had similar architecture to the MSX1...
SteveW #7 Posted February 23, 2004 I know that the graphics processor for the ColecoVision and MSX computers is the same graphics chip in the Texas Instruments 99/4A Home Computer and subject to the same limitations, like only 4 sprites on a scanline.
