figgler #1 Posted February 23, 2004 I must say I’m pretty impressed with myself. This day is feels like it’s 15+ years in the making. Frustration and a lack of gaming skill have always kept this title just out of reach for me, but with the Metroid madness I’ve been going through lately, I guess the time was right and the determination was there. (I beat it once years ago using the Justin Bailey password but I don’t count that) I have been playing non stop NES Metroid on Zero Mission while on the go and then transferring my password to the Metroid Prime version each day when I get home. Take that Mother Brain!
StanJr #2 Posted February 23, 2004 I still can't beat this without cheating. Its too frustrating to refill the life meter every time you die. Other than that, I really like it and will try again someday! Well done, congratulations to you!
lonesome_pa #3 Posted February 23, 2004 Good for you, and yes it is hard, if not frustrating because of the way you have to replenish health and missles.
Xot #4 Posted February 23, 2004 I haven't finished it in many years since subsequent Metroid games spoiled me to the use of map screens.
Wntermute #5 Posted February 24, 2004 I still haven't beaten NES Metroid. I've gotten as far as the Mother Brain battle and the combination of the guns, the rings, and the lava kill me every time. I've only been partway through Metroid 2 as well. I haven't ever beaten SMB 1 & 3 either. I have, however, beaten Super Metroid, Super Mario World and Mario 64. It's funny how extra features and better controllers can help a game. And yes, I'm still stuck with the original, boxy NES controllers.
