foxglove9 #4 Posted February 26, 2004 That's one of my favorite 2600 games!
NE146 #5 Posted February 26, 2004 That is indeed one of the great sleepers of the 2600 world. Fast paced shootemup action that gets even faster and can probably best be described as a cross between Eliminator and Star Castle. Way cool vintage VCS action! NovaXpress #6 Posted February 26, 2004 A very fun game, you can see it being played in "Revenge of the Nerds" while they're living in the gym. 20th Century Fox never gets the respect they deserve for putting out so many great titles. I'm not sure even Imagic can hold a candle to them overall.
Pixellated Ghost #7 Posted February 27, 2004 Thanks for the help in the identification of that game. Really enjoy it, and it does seem to remind me of Star Castle in a way. Here's another I can't identify. Not all that good of a game in my opinion but definitely looks interesting:

Pixellated Ghost #11 Posted February 28, 2004 That was quick! I was digging in my rom files and just found it as a starsoft pal version, which is identical to what is on the cart. Weird mixture of pal and NTSC games on it. So far all of them work on my TV, except the screen is shifted down a bit on the PAL ones.
Cootster #12 Posted February 28, 2004 That motorcycle game isn't the Xonox Motocross Racer I have . . . Is that a later stage in the game? I've never gotten that far in it, only past stage 1 and to the kinda Spike's Peak-ish screen. . .

moycon #15 Posted February 29, 2004 Yep, I never owned the cart but recall seeing the game at Toys R Us many many many moons ago. The Xonox version wasnt viewed from the top down, At least not on the pictures on the back of the box.
Pixellated Ghost #16 Posted March 1, 2004 Even AA makes mistakes sometimes... Your comparison pics definitely confirm it as the pirate one. Actually it's a pretty fun game, other than for the fact that I can't see my fuel, flags, etc. Oh well... here's another one, down to three left that I can't figure out. Tempest #17 Posted March 1, 2004 Doh! I actually knew that wasn't the Xonox Motocross, but I was tired and put it down anyway. I have no idea what that last one is, but damn does it look neat! Tempest
Pixellated Ghost #18 Posted March 1, 2004 It's a weird one. When you first fire it up, there's just a line at the top of the screen. WHen you press reset, some weird music plays and the house thing descends. The creatures at the top are perched on it and they descend to the line. Then, all these flickery things start bouncing around and these spider like things drop straight down. You have to shoot the spider things before they reach the bottom, and you usually die some cheap deaths as the creatures at the top fire instant lasers with no warning as they move around up there. Thomas Jentzsch #22 Posted March 1, 2004 I have that one on my pirate system I picked up from Mexico a while back. That one is NTSC, right? Maybe you could dump the ROM, that would make my NTSC conversion obsolete then.
sku_u #23 Posted March 1, 2004 I have that one on my pirate system I picked up from Mexico a while back. That one is NTSC, right? Maybe you could dump the ROM, that would make my NTSC conversion obsolete then. Half the games couldn't be dumped because of some weird switching the system employs, which, unfortunately includes the unknown game. Here's what CPUWIZ was able to get dumped when he gave it a try. I have no way of checking whether they're PAL or NTSC on my Mac. Maybe you'd be gracious enough to check them for me Laser Base is game 16 and there are a few other games that only exist in PAL format in cart form in that folder if these are indeed NTSC or something close to NTSC. archive.zip
Thomas Jentzsch #24 Posted March 1, 2004 282 lines, somewhere in the middle of PAL and NTSC. My own NTSC does 279 (instead of 262), because the game has a very huge display. So this game is probably almost unplayable on most NTSC TVs (if it syncs at all).

So this game is probably almost unplayable on most NTSC TVs (if it syncs at all). There are four versions of Laser base on that system I believe. At least one of them syncs up without a problem on all of my NTSC TVs. What about some of those other games?
