What kind of diskdrive is that?!?

Recommended Posts

Hmm... it may be SN-360 drive - a kind of Polish answer to Atari XF-551 (double sided - capable of writing 360k to a disk).

Answer? It was incompatible with XF551 (in 360k format) and has much errors in ROM...

Hi There!!!

Yes, it is Polish disk drive, but - for my eyes - this time is not SN-360. It have 360Kb, like XF, but - this time - I do not remember firm product this.

Not really, there were two versions.

One was revised after numerous customer reports about ROM bugs.

I was happy to purchase the second edition (from what I can gather - the fix included reprogrammed ROM and a few passive electronics inside on the controller) If it was manufactured after 1994 - I'll bet it's the bug-free revision :)

HTH

EDIT: it was designed by Slawomir Nienaltowski (hence SN) and manufactured and distributed by Atari Studio from Warsaw. I have an EPROM dump of the 'revised' model if anyone is interested.

Some rumours have it that the drive is incompatible with PERCOM standard for querying and setting drive parameters - but that's not true.
