out of this world/another world for jaguar

Recommended Posts

wow!, i just noticed out of this world (or another world as its listed and known outside the US) was scheduled for release on the jag. has this prototype been uncovered or released to the public? anyone know how far along it was in development? anyone know if this included the follow up "heart of the alien" along with it?

the jag version could really be the redemption for the somewhat rushed heart of the alien that was only released on the segacd! the first game(out of this world) was brilliant and it deserves a worthy sequel.(not that the segacd heart of the alien was bad, it was just FAR to short)

the game was supposedly a ground-breaking one - graphically. I have an old snes magazine praising it. It has all digitized stuff in it. Its kind of cell shaded in a way. Its a side scrolling shooting game with a hell of a lot of puzzles. I hate it.

well out of this world and flashback certainly aren't side scrolling shooting games, and it wasn't the graphics that were ground breaking it was the way the game played and the animation, basically the whole concept of them. they really aren't a lot like anything else thats been made before or since. the games are very well animated and you have to solve your way through a lot of the game, although there is action as well, but they certainly aren't your average mindlesss button pressers(not to knock those types of games though because i like them as well!). but for a good portion of the game you must rely on your own resoucrefulness and awarness of your surroundings and be able to use objects around you to make progress in the game. for example the opening stage you have no weapons and you are being stalked by a beast that you must out smart to get past. you don't find a weapon untill later in the game. here is a link you can find some more info at:

Oh, you're talking about the sequel/prequel/whatever to Flashback? Damn, been so long I forgot about it. I barely remember that game now. Hmmm. Where's a good place to buy Flashback for the Jag?? I didn't see it listed on the Songbird site or the GoatStore.

I am sorry but there appears to be no links that can be found on internet search for the Jaguar version of this game. If you search on the game name on Google you can see what game we are talking about. That is it at this time. If anyone finds links to this game, even good links for the regular version post them here and I will add them to dmoz.org. If I can get series specific links I will categorize the whole series if I can get enough sites.

There's a review of the game, with a download link for the PC version, here.

I believe it actually uses the Flashback engine (or at the least close to it), so a conversion shouldn't have been too difficult compared to many other games. Guess Delphine never got around to it :(

For this style of platform-puzzler-with-motion-captured-animation though, my personal fave would have to be Blackthorne (PC, SNES, others?). Loved that game :)

I remember playing this game on the ST. I thought it was a great game! It was the type of game that I wished wouldn't end. :)

I played this game on my ST. Even I finish it. I remember that it has nice animated intro. What I know the sequel is Flashback which is for Jaguar too. I never played Flashback so I don't know if it is as goog as original Another World.

no, actually flashback wasn't a sequel to out of this world, the two games play similarly because they were both developed by delphine software, but they have no connection whatsoever in the storylines. i think Eric Chahi developed or played a part in developing both of the games.

i saw one up on ebay with the box. and i think lik-sang.com had one new for 24.99 listed but the shipping might be higher as i think they are located in japan. there was one up on half.com as well if you just want the game alone for $11 i think

I own Out Of This World for SNES but I know the game would

be able to run 60fps on the Jag. I have Flashback for all three

systems Jaguar, Genesis and SNES the colors frame rate

and the animation are done so smoothly makes the Genesis

version look like Coleco Vision.. LOL juss kiddin but Jag version

is top version in all aspects of the game.

Peace Out..!
