FND #1 Posted February 27, 2004 Does anyone else see the name Bidiots and then zero in on the idiots part, I know I do and then my mind fills in the rest and it becomes big idiots. When Ebay first started I would always read it as East bay since that was a term I was use to seeing used in the SF Bay Area FND I need to add I think Bidiots is a great idea and there service is the best, I don't want anyone to think I was putting them down FND
Mindfield #2 Posted February 28, 2004 It's derivative of the old "Vidiots" moniker used to address anyone mad about video games back in the day. I think there was even a video game show of some sort with that name, too...
sku_u #3 Posted February 28, 2004 There's nothing wrong with being a Bidiot, a vidiot or even an eightiot
Curt Vendel #4 Posted February 28, 2004 I first though thought the same thing. I think its a matter of, its a catchy name. Notice how companies with the weird names that stick in your head do well, because they are easy to remember. Who would think such important sites like search engines would be yahoo or google? What kind of names are those!?!?! Catchy, and easy to remember. Back in the 80's you've expected something like a major company to be like searchtech or interfind or something, but in the 90's and the new millenium, its goofy catchy names that work the best. Plus if people get offended by the name bidiots and complain, the company still probably will win out, because contriversy causes conversation and interest and people go to the site to see what its all about and its a win-win for a site like that. See it's working already, because now there is a thread discussing it! :-) Curt
