I've thought about getting it. Not terribly good at chess though so that's a factor against. The price is good though. Waiting for the release of a few RPGs this year though so currently I'm holding off for those.

I remember getting ChessMaster 9000 and the site hardly had any online players. I found more chess players by going to a chess server. I wonder if the PS2 version has a similar problem where there are only a few players available.

I think most chess players would more likely be attracted to the PC than a console.

The Nintendo 64 had a chess game done by a 3rd party company named Titus. Although a forgettable game, it did had a learn mode for those who never played chess and a "famous chess games" section. I guess the audience is too niche.

I don't think chess will ever really be a true mass market game since people see it as very complicated and difficult to learn. It really isn't but that is the perception.
