Mr.FoodMonster #1 Posted March 2, 2004 Well, this is easily the stupidist thing I have ever done. I had my GBA: SP in my pocket of my pants. I threw them into the wash, not remembering. About 30-60 seconds later I yelled 'OH SHIT' ran over and fished it out. It had a plastic baggy around it, but not the sealable kind. Actually, it was one of the Cart holders sold here on AA. Anyways, I took it out, wiped it down, and took out the battery. Right now it is drying atop a paper towel, as is my Wario Ware game. I'm not even thinking about testing it until about 18 hours from now. I sadly dont have one of the specail Nintendo screw drivers, and I almost bought one last week... ARG! Does this look hopeful, or am I dreaming? And, if I am dreaming, who needs a spare GBA: SP battery, Case, LCD and GBA cart? =P ::hangs head in self pitty::
Xot #2 Posted March 2, 2004 Actually, you probably saved it. Water really doesn't hurt anything, as long as you get ALL OF IT OUT before you power it up. I'd wait at least 36 hours, myself.

vb_master #4 Posted March 2, 2004 What color is the case? I spilt some coke on me this after noon while watching someone else beat Metroid Fusion. I almost got my GBA SP with my AR and Metroid: Zero Mission carts. I was lucky. The worst thing I ever did was washing my wallet, which wasn't a big problem. vb_master #7 Posted March 2, 2004 That would be cool to have my silver one with a black screen! The hot(?) water might of messed up your LCD screen JK . Can you post a picture of it?

Mr.FoodMonster #9 Posted March 2, 2004 Because most of my clothes are black, I always wash on cold, so I saved myself there. Jetset, go to hell =P Also, if I posted a picture, you would just see a regular SP, it looks exatcly the same.

It went through wash, rinse and spin cycle.... it still works
Mr.FoodMonster #14 Posted March 2, 2004 Ok, I also got an email from customer service at nintendo saying the game would still work, and maybe the SP itself, but they didnt have a definate answer. They gave me a link to the repair part of the website though
Susuwatari #15 Posted March 3, 2004 If you were a regular reader of Nintendo Power, you'd have read many stories of Gameboy who survived many situations including being flushed down the toilet, being burnt, thrown out of a car while on freeway, etc and the Gameboy still worked. I wouldn't worry about the GBA-SP being in the washing machine. Let them dry and they'll be fine.
Atarinvader #16 Posted March 3, 2004 The only thing that I'd be worried about it would be that you'd get a small amount of residue on the circuit board. With all the consoles now adays have such small runs between them you may experience a bit of shortage across stuff. Mostly this won't effect any of the chips themselves (because it'll only be a small current across it), you may experence a shorter battery life. This happened once when I spilt beer in my walkman. Shannon #17 Posted March 4, 2004 I accidently dropped my electric shaver in the toilet once. It was battery powered so the thing ran for like a full day before it would stop. I tried it a few days later and it was fine. Probably not as complicated as a GBA SP, but hey who knows.
Mr.FoodMonster #18 Posted March 4, 2004 Good news The SP and theWario game both work, after 48 hours of sitting out (I wasnt about to let $130 worth of equipment be ruined because I wanted to play my games faster =P) I also am not sure about bettery life, It is a different kind of battery and I took it out immediatly
