is there an rf switchbox with multiple inputs?

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of hooking up all my newly purchased systems and I would like to hook them all up and just use a switcher to select which console I would like to play. I know there are A/V switchers but I don't recall seeing one that works with rf.

They have two way coaxial switches at radio shack. You can hook more than one switch up at the same time if you have more than 2 sytems with Rf.

I've seen ones w/ RF only and AV only, but not a hybrid though that'd be totally cool... but if RF is all you need, they make em, but they're a little diff format, they look more like something you'd screw to a wall in a bar and they only support three items at once, but you can always daisy chain em... I'm using 1 RF switch and 4 AV switches, I've got insufficient hookups yet.....

anyway, hope that helps.

Your best bet is to get a bunch of RCA to F-Jack converters and use an F-Jack switchbox. You'll get a cleaner picture that way.

Radio Shack has them, as well as any large electronics store.

In case you didn't know, you can actually just daisy-chain multiple RF switches, and it'll work just fine... the problem though, is that if your TV signal is going through three or four switches, you'll get poor reception (how poor depends on the quality of the switches). What I did was to get a simple 2-input, 1-output coax switch... TV comes in one side, and all my RF switches are hooked into the other side. That way I can get TV with minimal loss of picture quality (there is still some signal attenuation from the switch, but that's minor), and still have all the RF switches hooked up without paying $25 for some monster switchbox.

Muhaha!

I have the answer! Design notes are pending...

Because, I too was tired of swapping about all of those darn RF cables.

Hex.
