joeybastard #1 Posted March 7, 2004 For my birthday, my wife got me a GB player for my GC. That thing completely kicks ass. I was playing Gyruss on Konami Advanced and it felt great with the GC analog stick. It sparked my interest again in a bunch of old GB games I haven't played in ages like Catrap. There's also something really cool about playing the Atari Anthology through this thing, because I can finally see a bunch of Activision games I don't have on a big screen. She also got me Simpsons Road Rage for the GBA which is a fun little game. It'll keep me busy on the train for a few days. If you have a GC and GB games lying around go get this thing, it's really great.
Gabriel #2 Posted March 7, 2004 I'd venture to say the Game Boy Player is the best reason to own a GameCube.
Avid Fan #3 Posted March 7, 2004 It is a great little thingy. And it looks so cool against a black GC. I often forget that I have it. And the filter on it is much better than the filter on Visual Boy. But I really hope that the next GameBoy Player for the next Nintendo system will support Super Game Boy games. Joey Bastard I know what you mean about Gyruss. I always play some Galaga on my GBP whenever I use it, the stick is great for those types of games (and not many others). I often will play a few games at a time when I play the GBP
Room 34 #4 Posted March 7, 2004 You guys have me convinced. Now I just need to convince my wife... that this is my ideal birthday gift!

Kuddy #6 Posted March 7, 2004 I recently bought one of those imported Hori Gamecube controllers that are shaped like SNES pads. It's absolutely perfect for the Game Boy Player, and also for Zelda 1 and 2 on the Zelda disc. I highly recommend buying one... they sell them at Play-Asia. Zaxxon #7 Posted March 8, 2004 Does anyone know where to buy the Hori controller in colors other than Indigo and Black? I read that they come in other JPN colors like Spice in JPN but the import shops just aren't carrying those colors for the N.A. market.

cimerians #9 Posted March 8, 2004 The gameboy player is the best thing since the actual Gamecube. Its a must for any Gamecube owner.
NE146 #10 Posted March 8, 2004 I think it's very very awesome myself. But oddly enough, I barely use it! I seem to enjoy playing GBA games on the SP most of the time. If I have the rare luxury of playing on the tv.. then it's a full blown console game.
Jasoco #11 Posted March 8, 2004 I love mine too, but one suggestion, for games before the GB Color, use a Super Game Boy as the Player, like the actual GBA, only has a few select color palettes. (PLUS, with the SGB, your Super Game Boy games actually are super. The Player treats SGB games like a regular Game Boy (Which totally disappointed me. I wanted to play my Donkey Kong and Tetris Attack games in their SGB color variations, but nooo.. the GBP and GBA don't let you. And forget about playing the full screen version of Space Invaders. No Super Game Boy functionality.) So if you have both, you have so many ways to play every GB game on your TV. Game Boy Player for Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games. Super Game Boy for Game Boy and Super Game Boy games. Have both, and you're in heaven!
