Matt Reichert of AtariProtos.com has unearthed a previously unknown prototype for the Atari 8-bit computers and 5200 game system that he plans on unveiling at PhillyClassic 5. The fast-paced action game, whose identity will be revealed at the show, demonstrates the power of the 5200 and formed the basis of an arcade game of the same name. Stop by the Atariprotos.com table at PC5 to be one of the first to try your hand at this game and learn more about it. The binaries for both versions will be released after PhillyClassic 5 so everyone can freely enjoy them!

All I'm going to say is that when I saw it I was was surprised as hell. It was so unbelievable that I remained skeptical until I actually got the roms in my hands. AFAIK this one isn't on ANY list of possible games I've seen and I don't think anyone other than the programmers knew it was being programmed.

This game is AMAZING! If I was going to pick one game to showcase the 5200's power this would be it. Finally we can stand tall and say "Eat it Colecovision!" :D

My lips are sealed until Philly. :music:

Oh and before anyone asks, no I don't own the prototypes. The programmers wanted to keep them.

Okay...does it use the Trakball? What about fire buttons...does it use both?

Who programmed the game (like that would help me figure it out  )?

Is it on A8 disk or cart?

So does that mean it won't be released in cart form?

Are we to assume that because you didn't mention it, the programmer doesn't have the source code, just the rom?

I suppose they have the source code as well, I never asked. I'm not sure why that makes any difference. :?

Mabe I missed it but you didn't mention if the game was completely finished. If it wasn't, the source code would really help. And if it is, it would still be an interest to those who are into programming the 8-bits/5200.
