Creekree #1 Posted March 10, 2004 hi there! has anyone ever tried (or even better: succeded) to build a DIY cartridge for the jag? can someone submit a link? i`m asking this because a friend of mine actually has battlesphere but unfortunately i dont. since years we both dream to play against each other, but as you all know BS is quite rare and insanely expensive when seen on ebay. scatalogics webpage say that they are not going to produce them anymore. now when i had the chance to somehow build my own that would be fantastic. i know the game is not public domain, but scatalogic always seemed to be very engaged in raising funds for diabetes research, so maybe one could arrange a deal with them, eg.g "let me use the program for one DIY cart and i´ll give you money to donate it" or something like that..... one would have to see to that. the technical part could prove to be quite hard anyway..... cheers, creekree
PeterG #2 Posted March 10, 2004 Hi, I'm not in any way related to Scatologic but since Thunderbird was banned from this forum he can't tell you anything about that himself. Maybe Scott is still lurking. The important part is that what you atempt to do is quite illegal. I know that you suggest to pay something for it, but it is highly doubtful that you will have any success with that. It'S an expensive game but with a biot of luck and some patience you might snatch one up somewhere. I guess I am not helping you much, but well... peter
Creekree #3 Posted March 10, 2004 i know that using the rom image implies a lot of legal stuff, i just wondered if i actually buy a rom image (like you do when you buy a game cartridge) that could mean that i own the image, right? putting it on a selfmade cart just enables me to use it. anyway, i was just dreaming... btw: why was he banned? PeterG #4 Posted March 10, 2004 Wel I think it is not that simple because they want the carts to be made in a special and high quality way and since nobody wanted to do it their way it's not likley that anyone will be able to get the rom from them. But hey I also always dream that the Jag Vr appears or something else...it's part of it you know :-) The reason he was banned? Wel let's say it this way. There was some trouble concerning him and some guys here and the admins decided to ban him for that. I think it was a unlucky decision but that's just me and I for sure don't want to start any trouble so maybe we leave it that way. But if you want to talk to him you can also join the Talk Atari Explorer Site and ask him your questions yourself. Peter

jaysmith2000 #6 Posted March 11, 2004 In addition, due to other projects that Doug and Scott are working on, there is no way they are going to release or sell the rights to Battlesphere so it can be reproduced. Not a chance....
vanadium #7 Posted March 11, 2004 Jaguar-related projects at all?
Susuwatari #8 Posted March 11, 2004 It can be done but not many EPROM burner can handle 16 bit EPROMs. You'd need to have one which the software has 16 bit support and an adapter to use the 16-bit EPROM on the 8-bit socket. Add to that I don't know how to properly spilt the ROM image. It's probably a lot more work than they're worth. Just check eBay once in a while and pray you're the first to find one with a decent BIN first.
jaysmith2000 #9 Posted March 11, 2004 Jaguar-related projects at all? Based on our discussions over at TAEX, I would say "no". However, they are Battlesphere related.
