ulij20 #1 Posted March 11, 2004 Used the search engine, but couldn't find a topic about this game. Like Adventure, this one has a few nifty sights. "Frying" this game usually gets me a blank screen, but a few times, I've accessed the screen where all the criminals, the helicopter, and Lois Lane are before the bridge blows up. It's weird, with everything flashing on and off with too many items being in the room at one time, as well as the sound of the chopper and Lex's helipack sounding at the same time. I also like putting everyone in the Daily Planet at the same time, although you obviously can't very well do that with Lex Luthor, plus the guy in the green clothes always leaves. Apparently he's very antisocial. He never even stays in there with one guy. But as I recall, he'll stay there by himself. Also, if you put Lois Lane in the daily planet and stand just below her, she'll sometimes kick you in the head.A A friend of mine used to think it was funny to fly into the phone booth carrying Lois Lane after Superman's job was finished (since he'd be changing his clothes in front of a lady). Yes, my friend often had his mind in the gutter!
Nukey Shay #2 Posted March 11, 2004 Maybe he just wanted some? You know that he can only undress in front of the telephone. It's some kind of fetish
Christophero Sly #3 Posted March 11, 2004 Superman is a great game. One of my favorite "early" games. I'm amazed that Todd Rogers scored 56 secs.
NE146 #4 Posted March 11, 2004 One of my childhood favorites too. I used to RULE at the game and I'm pretty sure I've seen most of the odd things you can do. Although when I play it now I feel a little lost
Gregory DG #5 Posted March 11, 2004 I like Superman, but the way the screens are set up always confused me. Now, Sauron, is a dude that rocks at Superman! He's probably the best Superman player ever (or at least the best I've ever seen!)
maibock #6 Posted March 11, 2004 Awesome game indeed! Also when you fry the game, you can finish it in 0 seconds My brother used to have the record in the house until I discovered this. Of course I showed him the game with 1 second for effect. His reaction was classic. (I later destroyed his best time playing legit to add insult to injury)
Nukey Shay #7 Posted March 11, 2004 Nah...I recommend hacking. Give yourself an edge that only you know about
ulij20 #8 Posted March 11, 2004 Awesome game indeed! Also when you fry the game, you can finish it in 0 seconds By frying, I mean turning the game on and off rapidly. Unless there is a way to get done in zero seconds by doing that. But without doing that you can still do it, due to the glitch in the game that sometimes keeps the timre from starting up right away. You fly down to the phone booth, turn into Clark Kent, go the the middle of the screen and hit "select" which pauses the game and takes Clark on a tour of the city. When you get to the Daily Planet, move in any direction and then you enter the Daily Planet with Clark's fanfare of completing the game. By this time, the timer has usually started up, but I remember several times, I've been able to complete it in zero seconds.
AtariDude #9 Posted March 12, 2004 What are the potentials problems for trying this over and over? Is it possible to cause permanent damage to an 2600?
ATARI TROLL #10 Posted March 12, 2004 Suerman is one of the early greats and I must compliment (there is a early last year hack someone did of it) Both are great versions!
rexreed #11 Posted March 12, 2004 I seem to remember using xray vision in the beginning of the game to prevent the bridge from blowing up. Then all we had to do was nab the crooks. We used to cream the neighbors times, of course we cheated so looking back it doesn't feel so good.
D.Yancey #12 Posted March 12, 2004 Todd's time is LEGIT with no cheating/frying/pausing/etc! Here are some hints to getting a great time. 1. The bridge pieces are always found on the same screens. 2. Take advantage of the 3 timer startup variations-keep resetting until you make it to the phone booth before it starts. This will save about 3 seconds. 3. When you catch all the crooks and have to walk back to the Daily Planet, note the you can take one of the subways as a shortcut. This saves about 12 seconds, IIRC(it's been a while)!!! 4. Keep in mind that at the beginning of the game, the criminals are breaking OUT of the jail, so they will be nearest the jail in the very beginning. Keep resetting until you find a variation where many can be aprehended near the jail very quickly. Then put the bridge back together lastly. Good Luck... this is a great game!!! It's one of a few non-Activision titles that I play ocassionally.

I used to love this game, suprising that I do not remember it more often.
Nukey Shay #14 Posted March 16, 2004 Not really, since it's still playing a scenario without employing any tricks that get around any of the game's plotline.
Saikyo #15 Posted March 19, 2004 i used to have superman beat it as well but it useed to take me ages due to the fact the way the screens are set up!
Shannon #16 Posted March 20, 2004 One big key to superman is learning how to use the subways. And of course the tips mentioned above.
sku_u #17 Posted March 20, 2004 For an early release, this is a very good game.

Stingray #21 Posted March 24, 2004 Superman is one of the very best 2600 games IMO early or otherwise. I used to have it, but alas it's one that's dissapeared from my collection over the years. I've just recently gotten back into the Atari scene, and Superman is very high on my games to get list. -S

Vic George 2K3 #25 Posted November 8, 2006 When graphics are so primitive, one actually has to use an imagination to come up with some racy scenario with Superman and Lois.
