Where to shop in Flagstaff?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to Arizona next week and will be kicking around Flagstaff, Phoenix and Sedona for a few days. Anyone know a few places to pick up commons and semi-rare 2600 games?

I'm not looking to raid any rare stuff, just to hopefully fill in a few basic gaps in my collection more cheaply than it would cost me here in New York City. They're asking $10 for Adventure at my *former* favorite place to buy games here, so I'm just looking to save a few bucks and have some fun treasure hunting.

I spent two weeks in Flagstaff about 6 years ago .. and I found 4 (that I can remember) thrift stores there.

There was a new/used book store on the west side of town that had several boxes full of Combats. Those were the days when commons were .. plentiful. Of course if then were now .. I would make a deal with them to buy and send to AA store.

I don't know about Phoenix but I'm sure it is loaded with thrifts. Look around.

There were no thrifts in Sedona .. too small and grandiosely preoccupied with its "historic" new age role.

I have noticed a certain pattern when people ask about thrift shops for buying games. It seems that whenever someone is going on vacation and asks for assistance in looking for good thrift shops in the area that they are visiting, there are few if any responses. Are people that afraid that someone will snag a rare game that they rather not divulge locations of good site for shopping? :ponder:

For the record, I got a few detailed PMs with good info, so I can't complain. Maybe people are tight-lipped elsewhere but the guys in Flagstaff are willing to share (and I say thanks!)

I'm back from Arizona and I just wanted to say 'thanks' to all of you who emailed me info on where to find Atari stuff there. Although all I dug up was a Combat for 25 cents, it was still fun to explore the area, and I totally enjoyed Bookmans. I must have dropped 70 bucks on books alone there (and that big 25 cents!). You guys rule-

I agree with ataridude about some guys out there being territorial about their atari hotspots. I was about the only one who responded to another post from someone else looking for places in tucson. (& I know for a fact that I'm not the only atari freak here in tucson.) I think there's plenty of room for all of us & the hunt is what makes it more fun. But I guess it could be worse - which is why I no longer collect Star Wars.
