carts -the black gold is to be found in the dust!

Recommended Posts

hi there!

i just came across some trivia here on atariage: "did you know that atari buried FIVE MILLION unsold copies of E.T. in the new mexico desert?"

Whoa!

someone should go there and dig for these carts, the homebrewers will be grateful for the plastic cases!

anyhow, i recently ran across a jag and some games so i figured it might be a good time to return to AA!

has anyone gotten into building the vcs tape loading device yet?

Yes, we have all heard the stories of the 5 million copies of E.T. buried in the desert, but even if it were true and some one did find them, so what would that do? it would not make E.T. any more valuable and the only use for them that I could see if the make them into new hacks or new games for the 2600 system.

 :ponder:

Here is a rather long thread about this very topic. At 300+ posts, it should keep you reading for a couple hours :D

Some good info in here too.

5 Million copies of ET Look at page 13, and you will see the programmer of et comment about this whole thing! ;)

Sincew you've posted that link, the old thread would grow by another page before it finally quiets down.  :P

I know, I thought twice about posting it, but it was the only one that came up in the search, and it is the longest.
