Fusion Frenzy: some cool minigames

Recommended Posts

Just got to what seems to be Xbox's answer to Mario Party, "Fusion Frenzy".

Not as much imagination of presentation and variety as Mario Party, but no retarded boardgame. (On the other hand, it suffered from "Simpsons' Poochie" syndrome where it's trying a little too hard to be "radical awesome!!!"...like the designers wanted to be Jet Set Radio Future but couldn't quite pull it off.

And some of the minigames were quite cool, things with tanks, bombs, enhancements of tron light cycles, SNAFU but based on a circle rather than a square...really cool.

Anyway, neat to see old school ideas in a new school setting.

sumo is my favorite minigame  :D

Heh, didn't Mario Party do that in 1 and 2? though the falling-away-board adds to it...still, I was unhappy at one point when my very conservative make a stand in the middle strategy worked out. (haven't played it that that much since)

In general, I like the ones where people are leaving trails of one kind of another, like Tron lightcycles, but sometiems circular, and the ones like hockey and what not, where the last person to touch the puck before it get into the goal gets the point, or where its teams and you get a point only if you touch the bumber while "it"

Twisted system is our favorite. Sumo a close second. I might mention that a sequel was confirmed not to long ago. Pretty sure its going to be LIVE compatable too. :D

Has anyone tried Kung Fu Chaos on the Xbox - best party game ever.

the ign review mentions it's similar to Powerstone 2...any idea how the two compare?

Fuzion Frenzy. I have fond memories of that XBOX classic. In fact, it was one of the first XBOX games I played.

2 weeks before the XBOX launched, EB had the game running on one of its demo stations. In fact, strangely enough some stores actually had Fuzion Frenzy and NFL Fever 2002 out for sale before the Nov 15 XBOX launch date...it was kind of cool seeing the actual games for sale before the hardware was actually available...the green cases and insert art had a certain mystique to them that only comes along once in a great while when new gaming hardware is released.

But getting back to the topic at hand, Fuzion Frenzy is a great game and somewhat of a sleeper. There's great variety in the mini-games as well as great play control and a great high-tech atmosphere. For a while, Fuzion Frenzy 2 was listed as an upcoming title for the XBOX, but nothing has surfaced recently.

Actually, http://xbox.ign.com/articles/494/494597p1.html

is a Feb 25 2004 article saying its an Xbox Live game slated for the second half of 2004.

For, like, 4-8 player games, I'm less interested about online play, but if they throw 16-32 people into one simple but fun game (can xbox live do that?) that could be seriously fun.

There are already few 16 player games and rumours of Halo 2 supporting 32 players on Live have not been confirmed.

I've only played the demo of Kung Fu Chaos, but I can safely say that there are SOME similarities to the PowerStone games, but the focus in KFC is more about actual close-combat fighting techniques, as opposed to the more weapons/gimmick-centric PowerStone series. The stages seemed to play more of a part in Kung Fu Chaos than they do in PowerStone as well.
