Creekree #1 Posted March 20, 2004 hello! i have successfully added audio outs to my jag. it really was only about tracing some lines on the pcb and adding three wires (and the audio jacks). simple as it is, it really rocks my speakers (up to now i only had a scart wire without extra audio outs, so i was damned to use my tv´s speakers..... now the walls shake with every shot my I.S. fires hehehe. i also added a reset switch (the red dot next to the second joypad connector, i found that place much more convenient than on the jags back) and a PAL/SCART switch (which you can´t see in this picture as it is on the units backside) all in all, this was easy to do and i am pleased with the outcome. good thing i have that dremel around should anyone have questions on where to put the wires to, feel free to ask. (all in all it´s quite self explanatory: check the faq on which pins of the a/v connector are left / right /ground, trace the lines back a little (in order not to obstruct the connector when soldering wires to them) and you are almost done) creekree
JagChris #2 Posted March 20, 2004 Congrats! That even looks very professional. What are you? Some kind of electronics whiz? Actually, I'm kinda curious, are you?
Creekree #3 Posted March 20, 2004 That even looks very professional. What are you? Some kind of electronics whiz? hm.... depends on what you mean by "electronics whiz"..... my soldering iron has been a very good friend for a looooong time now i am mainly into building music production gear, fixing whatever people bring me and sheer circuit bending, (midi controllers, synths etc.... for instance i have added a midi-in to my super gameboy in order to sync nanoloop (a gb music prog) with my sequencer). i guess i just like to tinker with electronics (no, i have no education on how to do that, it´s just me and my curiosity and a lot of trial-and-error). right now i am very interested in the jaguar, i plan to build a rotary controller anytime soon. oh yeah, a flashcart would be very nice... i will see to that. creekree
Starcat #4 Posted March 20, 2004 Hi folks ! It's not that hard actually. Back in 99 I first did this mod myself and even put pictures of it on the old Jaguar Development Club homepage... It's really a cool mod, though. Regards, Lars.

Creekree #6 Posted March 20, 2004 a PAL/SCART switch And that does what exactly? Stone it switches between PAL and NTSC of course, dunno where my mind was when i typed SCART...... NTSC! NTSC! NTSC! funny that you are the first one to point that out..... seems all others just accepted what they read without thinking hehehe creekree
Stone #7 Posted March 20, 2004 a PAL/SCART switch And that does what exactly? Stone it switches between PAL and NTSC of course, dunno where my mind was when i typed SCART...... NTSC! NTSC! NTSC! funny that you are the first one to point that out..... seems all others just accepted what they read without thinking hehehe You're still wrong; it'll switch between 50Hz and 60Hz. PAL or NTSC colour formatting is set by the hardware. See, it was a trick question Stone
Creekree #8 Posted March 20, 2004 aaaargh........ WHATEVER. btw: i once heard that in int sensible soccer team names will change, depending on which jag (PAL/NTSC/50/60/whatever) the game is running. is that true? creekree
walter_J64bit #9 Posted March 20, 2004 I like that all you need now is the S-video out and a video out!
Tyrant #10 Posted March 20, 2004 I like that all you need now is the S-video out and a video out! Hmm... an internal catbox... now that is a fun idea What he really needs next is a bios switch, probably just retail and bjl for now would do nicely, nothing on the stub rom thats useful without an alpine afaik. walter_J64bit #11 Posted March 20, 2004 If you want to go that far he needs an RGB out!
Htbaa #12 Posted March 21, 2004 Nice mate . I did a mod myself too. On my nonfunctionel bjl jaguar . I added a few leds under the air holes. But the leds aren't bright enough, so it doesn't look too cool. But funny anyway .
MasterMotorola #13 Posted March 23, 2004 Nice work, Creekree! What is the sound quality like? Any static/hissing/high-pitches when the game gets quiet? An internal CatBox mod would rule! - Steve
Creekree #14 Posted March 28, 2004 the sound quality is very good. no static or hiss. when i turn the volume up like REAL loud thge only hiss i hear would come from my speakers anyway. creekree
