Cassidy Nolen #1 Posted March 24, 2004 Ok, All nice stuff aside, need y'alls help: Someone asked me on Saturday to sign a Frog Pond. Seemed sincere, said he already had Polo, so I had no problem doing it. I NEVER claimed to have written that game, nor did I ever expect to see it on ebay within days.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3086962660 Thanks to a very quick eye of a fellow AA member (you can chime in, if you like ), I know about it. I just wrote him the following.... I am requesting that you end the auction. This was not a condition of my autograph, nor am I the author of this game. This could be considered fraudlent, and I am requesting that you remove the auction. If you would like to trade that one for a boxed one that is not autographed, I would happily do that. That way, you could sell it on ebay with my consent. The way the auction is listed makes it appear that I wrote the game, which I never claimed to do. I simply released the final rom version with packaging. Thank you for complying with this email. Again, I am offering an un-signed version in exchange. I am notifying the AtariAge boards to this, and hopefully will hear from you within 24 hours, or will be forced to report a prototype release on ebay. Cassidy PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS. I did not endorse this, nor do I ever ask this sort of thing from the group. I am just sick about this, and would sooner smash the rest I have than see myself misrepresented. Please, guys, let your friends know. This is not what it appears to be. Cassidy
bjk7382 #2 Posted March 24, 2004 I already have one (#44) so I won't be bidding on it, and I hope he ends it for you so you don't have to report him to ebay (might want to tell ebay just in case)
CPUWIZ #3 Posted March 24, 2004 I posted about this auction minutes after it went up. Damn tosser, I think it should be reported either way.
Rick Weis #4 Posted March 24, 2004 give him 23 more hours then report it. (if he don't take it down) ebay is pretty quick on prototype shit.. (so i'm told) Rick
StanJr #5 Posted March 24, 2004 Lame, lame, lame. That really sucks. Now Cassidy has to be gun-shy every time someone asks for an autograph. People like this chip my beef. You can bet this person will see NONE of my e-bay dollars ever.
GrizzLee #6 Posted March 24, 2004 Ebay doesn't care.... Remembering Jah Fish's (Sabastian) auctions. He used my web content without permission. Reporting it to ebay did no good. Jah wouldn't comply and so I had to take drastic measures..... Perhaps you can notify the winning bidder immediately after the auction ends and tell him he has bid on a fraudulaent auction Good luck, -Lee

All you need to do is change the pic bit make sure you keep the name same for the pic to be seen.
MegaManFan #8 Posted March 24, 2004 :sigh: I hope the Mrs. reads this thread. She'll know what I was on about on the trip home when I said, "You know hon, I think Albert saved some extra copies of Saboteur with autographs just in case some lamers bought the game and got Howard to personally sign it JUST to turn around and milk it the next day. At least this way he can counteract it." I know it's a free market economy, but I still have my qualms about people who buy homebrews not to enjoy or appreciate, but just for pure profit without considering the feelings of the people who made it possible. Xot #9 Posted March 24, 2004 The description is false as well - it says only 20 were released nationwide. I assume you'd sell the remained of the 60 you made, right? And re: Saboteur - kinda wish I knew that Al save one or two. I didn't get a chance to have my copy autographed. Oh well, c'est la vie. Of all the 2600 games I snagged in Philly, Frog Pond is my favorite. I WILL beat your record of 900 points Cassidy! I got somewhere in the neighborhood of 620 today! MegaManFan #10 Posted March 24, 2004 Hey Cassidy, if you get this box back, I'll buy it from you as a replacement for my slightly damaged one. You +know+ I won't sell it on eBay. The nerve of some people to pull crap like this.
Cassidy Nolen #11 Posted March 24, 2004 Now he has changed the description and relisted it. Unreal. I have asked him to remove it, all he does is change the description... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=62053 Legally, he is in the right. Morally, I do not agree with this business practice. Again, I ask that none of you support him in this. Thanks again, guys. The more folks we know across the community the better on this one. Whisper #12 Posted March 24, 2004 Hmm, no alternatives than watching the auction and mailing the bidders about this I think.
Albert #13 Posted March 24, 2004 Well, it is a reproduction of a game, and eBay will remove it under their "Unauthorized Copies" policy if you point it out to them. I don't think they generally catch these unless someone points them out, or the item description matches some of eBay's filters. ..Al
MegaManFan #14 Posted March 24, 2004 Either that, or we can just have fun mailing every high bidder to tell them what a piece of scum the seller is.
