StanJr #1 Posted March 26, 2004 I just beat it! I just killed Jason on Day 3 and beat it! Of all the POS LJN games out there, this may be one of the very best games they made. Its fun, its simple, but EXTREMELY hard to complete. I played it a lot as a kid, but never beat it. Now finally, I have! I know most people hate it, but I love this stupid little game. I completed it with all counselors but Paul (poor Paul bit it on Day 3) and 10 children (5 got whacked Day 1) Weeee!
chrisbid #2 Posted March 27, 2004 allright! now for your next LJN lame movie license NES game challenge, time to go beat Back to the Future. Grab your makeshift skateboard and show us what you got
StanJr #3 Posted March 27, 2004 I'd rather beat myself over the head with the essence of Death than try to play Back to the Future, or BttF II and III, or Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Those games are COMPLETELY unplayable. I have tried.
Saikyo #4 Posted March 27, 2004 Try beating the game again but this time rescue ALL kids and adults If i remember rightly you get an alternative ending!
StanJr #5 Posted March 27, 2004 sweet, I did NOT know that!
Dones #6 Posted March 27, 2004 This is one of those games that people either love or hate with no in-between. I hear this game is NES 4-score compatible. Do you know how multiplayer works?
Scooterb23 #7 Posted March 27, 2004 Congrats Stan, you have more patience than I do...BTW, I beat Bill & Ted back in the day...what a horrible game, but the parents bought it for me, and I was going to finish it!!
Ze_ro #8 Posted March 27, 2004 What really bugs me about NES Friday the 13th is that every time I see it, I always expect it to be a port of the excellent C-64 game of the same name (the one where you can kill innocent civilians, and you occaisionally receive gory hallucinations). I'm always disappointed. --Zero
adams_ale #9 Posted March 27, 2004 I've never heard of anyone beating Friday the 13th without a game genie. Who knows how many times I tried. Very fun game and I love the suspense, but it just seems like this game cheats. I would always be on the other side of the circle from Jason when he started attacking the kids. On the times that I snuck up on the bastard I could avoid getting hurt, but I couldn't hurt him to bad(probably because I usually had a rock for a weapon). Congrats Stan. StanJr #10 Posted March 27, 2004 yeah, the key is killing Jason's mom ALL three days and getting the machete, the sweater, and the pitchfork. I had my whole crew outfitted with the best weapons. I picked up the Axe from the cave, and a couple of machetes in the woods. I was set. I kept one person stationed by the lake with the torch to really wail on Jason if he attacked the kids, and had one guy (Mark) just dedicated to finding medicine for the crew. The only thing that made it frustrating was that the counselors kept switching cabins for no reason. I'd leave someone stationed somewhere and go back later to use them and they had moved. Ah well, GREAT game. The only thing that redeems LJN in my eyes. I can't even get past the first level on Bill and Ted.
Dones #11 Posted March 27, 2004 Ah well, GREAT game. The only thing that redeems LJN in my eyes. I can't even get past the first level on Bill and Ted. After playing Bill and Ted's (how was it? oh yes) "Excellent Videogame Adventure" I began avoiding LJN games like the plague. Nintendo Power seemed to like the game though. KaineMaxwell #12 Posted March 27, 2004 Anyone liked Nightmare on Elm Street? What was the Friday the 13th C=64 game like?
Ze_ro #13 Posted March 27, 2004 In the C64 game, you ran around on a large map, almost Legend of Zelda style, with houses you could enter and everything... the idea was to find and kill Jason before he killed all the kids. Finding Jason was no easy task, since he would disguise himself as one of the kids (If you attacked a kid disguised as him, he would revert back to Jason (Which didn't look anything like Jason really, just a guy with black hair and black clothes), or he would sometimes flash back to his "Jason" look for a split second. Sometimes you would even show up in time to see him attacking one of the kids. You could find weapons placed randomly around the map... there were knives, chainsaws, axes, pitchforks and of course the machete amung some others. Whenever Jason killed a kid, you'd hear a blood-curdling scream (which was actually surprisingly effective) and your "fright" meter would raise (There were both a meter, and a picture of your kid, who's hair would start to stand on end). Every once and a while too, you'd get a hallucination that would appear on the screen... like a pile of bloody eyeballs or something. They were actually pretty grotesque for something on an 8-bit system. One you found Jason and took enough whacks at him, he'd give up trying to kill the kids and start coming after you. Depending on what weapon you had, you could usually dispatch him fairly easily (I might be wrong, but I think Jason always used the machete). I actually really liked this version of the game. Things were quite suspensefull when you were walking around and not finding anybody, and then suddenly heard a really loud scream. Try it out in an emulator. --Zero
Lauren Tyler #14 Posted March 28, 2004 I think I tried the C=64 version on emulator once. As for multiple endings, I think there's just one ending, unless you count the game over screens as bad endings. If you lose all the kids it tells you that Jason wiped out all your children! If you use up all your counselors it tells you that you and your friends are dead.

Actually Friday the 13th is only a one player game, unless you have a party and alternate players between the camp councelors. The NES version of A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 4 player game, but I don't recall how it worked.
