NovaXpress #1 Posted March 27, 2004 N-Gage 2 Too late guys, your name is already shit among gamers.
Ze_ro #2 Posted March 27, 2004 Seems like a good idea to me. Although they really should have done something about that vertical screen. Vertical screens really only work for shmups and Pac-Man. After all, Nokia would have made a new phone anyways... why not have it play N-Gage games while they're at it? It's good to see that they're not giving up, and that they're willing to try to fix their mistakes. --Zero

Adrian M #4 Posted March 27, 2004 I will watch this development with great interest as I am one of the few who think that Nokia truly has a viable product with the N-Gage, once some of the design quirks are worked out. Big name developers like Sega and EA still support it (Sega just announced a MMORPG for the N-Gage), so we shall all wait and see.
Jasoco #5 Posted March 27, 2004 Only interests me if the original models come down drastically in price. Either way, it looks like Nintendo is really going to have a lot of Portable competition soon.
Avid Fan #6 Posted March 27, 2004 I dont think the N-gage will ever give Nintendo or Sony any competition. The N-gage will be like laserdiscs, never meant to be for the mainstream, but cherished by those who own them
JB #7 Posted March 28, 2004 Rats. I thought this was going to be about the BrainBoy system with the patented NeuroJack interface...
Raijin Z #8 Posted March 28, 2004 Improvements over the original model include face mic and speaker, so you don't use it like a taco phone, and a sane cartridge slot.

Raijin Z #10 Posted March 28, 2004 You mean a handheld hotplate? Great for cooking Ngage-1 tacos.
AtariDude #11 Posted March 28, 2004 The N-Gage is a dead and buried system. They should admit that they do not have a clear vision of how to create a good portable game system and move on. Given the reputation that the first N-Gage achieved, very few people are willing to give them another chance. You only get one chance to make a good first impression and Nokia blew it. Sylentwulf #12 Posted March 28, 2004 The problem isn't any design flaw, the games are bad, and there aren't many of them. I think the highest review I've seen for an n-gage game is like a 4.5 out of 10. I would NEVER compare this to a turbo express (which has awesome games, but was way too expensive) I would compare the n-gage DIRECTLY to the game.com
AtariDude #13 Posted March 28, 2004 Games make a system. This has been traditionally true but Nokia never learned this. Take a look at any game system and there was always some game that was exclusive to that system which made that system worth getting in the first place. Nokia did not have a killer app at the start and the few games that were released were not very good at all. This spelled doom for the system and I doubt they have learned their lesson so N-Gage 2 might already be dead even before it is released.
JB #14 Posted March 28, 2004 The problem isn't any design flaw, the games are bad, and there aren't many of them.Which is directly tied to the design. It's literally just a cellphone with a bit of proprietary software and a funny button layout. There's no new hardware there, and the only thing that keeps NGage games from running on other phones using the same chipset is encryption on the software that the OS has to deal with(that non-nGage OSes don't know).
