ATARIPITBULL #1 Posted March 28, 2004 I know that there are 2 Atlantis boxes, one with a day time picture and one with a night time picture, but is one of these Atlantis II or is Atlantis II a third game & box?
CPUWIZ #2 Posted March 28, 2004 I know that there are 2 Atlantis boxes, one with a day time picture and one with a night time picture, but is one of these Atlantis II or is Atlantis II a third game & box? Atlantis II came in the night time picture box and a sticker was affixed to it to differentiate it from the regular Atlantis night time box.
ATARIPITBULL #3 Posted March 28, 2004 OK, so then there are 3 types of Atlantis boxes. Thanks CPUWIZ!
bjk7382 #4 Posted March 28, 2004 Here is the page that has all the pictures of the papers and stuff that came with it. http://www.atariage.com/features/atlantis2.html
bobafett07728 #5 Posted March 29, 2004 About how many of these Atlantis II's exist? From what I've read it was only sent to individuals of a contest. I would assume that there aren't too many out there, or did they eventually release a small amount of these to the public? The only significant cosmetic difference is that white label with Atlantis II typed on it, right? Otherwise, you'd have to actually play the game to notice the difference. I guess it could be possible that someone might have this game, and not even know it!?
Cootster #6 Posted March 29, 2004 It was actually sold in PAL format, wasn't it? I think all NTSC versions came from the contest, though. I think I know where there is one that I ignored because I thought it was common . . . Better still be at that store . . .
Ed Siegler #7 Posted March 30, 2004 Actually, the cartridge itself looks no different than the regular nightscene Atlantis game. The only way to tell the difference is to play the actual game. If I am not mistaken, there were only 20 or 25 NTSC versions released to the public for contest purposes.
sku_u #8 Posted March 30, 2004 OK, so then there are 3 types of Atlantis boxes. Thanks CPUWIZ! The only real difference between an Atlantis night scene box and an Atlantis II box is a hand typed label stuck onto the box: Atlantis II: http://www.atariage.com/box_page.html?Soft...7&BoxStyleID=14 Atlantis: http://www.atariage.com/box_page.html?Soft...0&BoxStyleID=14 There is a third Atlantis box style, but I've never seen one outside of the AA archives: http://www.atariage.com/box_page.html?Soft...1&BoxStyleID=
CPUWIZ #9 Posted March 30, 2004 That third box is a PAL version AFAIK.
sku_u #10 Posted March 30, 2004 Was there a distinct box for the blue label Atlantis?
CPUWIZ #11 Posted March 30, 2004 Was there a distinct box for the blue label Atlantis? Good question. Dunno.
D.Yancey #12 Posted March 30, 2004 The prizes were never even awarded in the contest. So...I guess the prize ended up being a super rare cart...if you kept it all these years!

the 5th ghost #14 Posted March 30, 2004 Was there a distinct box for the blue label Atlantis? Yes, The black version box was the one the the blue label version came in. http://www.atariage.com/box_page.html?Soft...1&BoxStyleID=
ATARIPITBULL #15 Posted March 30, 2004 THAT SUCKS!!!!!!!!! about a year ago, I had a chance to buy the black box off of ebay about 2 years ago, but did not. ( I am a sad little puppy now ).
Ed Siegler #16 Posted March 31, 2004 Joe won our copy, but I think that's as far as it went. It's kinda weird how we never thought that would turn out to be the rare game that it is, kind of like Cubicolor.
Malc74 #17 Posted March 31, 2004 Hi all, I have a copy of Atlantis (PAL) in a red box with the night-time picture on it. Does anyone know any more about this version? The text on the cart is exactly the same as the blue label, but on a white background. I've had a quick look at the box and cart scans but can't find this version anywhere. Any info would be much appreciated! Malc.
Spirantho #18 Posted March 31, 2004 That's the standard style box for the white label AFAIK. There are numerous different styles I suspect exist: Day picture, picture label Night picture, picture label Night picture, text label (I assume this exists) Night picture, black box, blue label Night picture(?) (PAL), multilingual text label Red box (PAL), white Activision-style label (like yours) Unknown box (PAL), white Imagic-style label (like the silver multilingual label but on white paper instead of silver and in black and white). I don't know what kind of box the latter comes in, but probably the red box like yours. AtariAge doesn't list PAL rarities usually, hence it's not in the database.
