Front Line

Picked this up today and was pleasantly surprised. I don't know what I was expecting, but this is a real Coleco gem.

 

Is it fair to compare this to Commando? They seem very similar, but I think Front Line may be better. You get to be a tank, there is no flicker, the sprites are colorful, but not garish (like the backgrounds in Commando can be). But is it so different from Commando that they cannot be compared?

 

Anyway, I am pretty impressed by this game. Anyone else?

I prefer it to Commando and Ikari Warriors as well. Coleo didn't try to do too much with it.

I'm not sure I enjoy either game, though I did stumble across Front Line at a tag sale somewhere.

I like Front Line myself. I always had a soft spot for the arcade game and while the Atari version isnt spot on, it's a darn good translation. Without some sort of special controller the over all experience is going to be different, if you'll remember the arcade game had that big ol knob you would turn 360 and push down on to fire, but Front Line was a fav when I was a kid.

Both are alot of fun! But commando seems to be a bit harder and has a little more gameplay value to it and better graphics. So i would say i like commando better than front line. But the tanks in front line rule!
