Intrepid #1 Posted April 3, 2004 My local mall just opened a new store/kiosk called Cash-In Culture. Basically, they take in old pop-culture items and mark them up, resell them on the other side of the mall. About 1/4th of the kiosk is made up of vintage video games. Flat rates: Atari: $3 NES/SNES/N64: $4 They also have PS1, PS2 (most $10), and XBOX games as well. They also were selling some consoles. SNES $25, XBOX $120, Nice 1st Gen Genny boxed complete for $39, PS1 for $35. It's really great in the sense that they really don't know/care what they're buying/selling, so the flat rate leaves it open to the chance of getting some great finds for cheap. On the downside, they're helping deplete the attics and basements of the local area, so there will be less to go through at the yard sales. It is refreshing to walk through the mall past the X-Box crap and see Atari carts. I might start taking some dupes up there and getting store credit so I can get some more Atari carts. I only have about 70 of them. It's called "Cash-In Culture" and its in the Bon Ton wing at the Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg, for the locals. It's not worth driving too far for if you have a retail Atari/NES supplier, but around here, it's the best we have.
Hydian #2 Posted April 3, 2004 Ooooo...I wonder if they'll open one closer to the city too. I suppose I could wander out that way one of these days...thinking about going to Ligonier sometime this summer so maybe I'll pop in then. I had an idea to start mapping out all of the junk stores in the area. I should try to follow up on it.
Intrepid #3 Posted April 3, 2004 Do you come out for Fort Ligonier Days, or just for the heck of it? I only ask, because that's about all there is out there.
Hydian #4 Posted April 3, 2004 Will probably go see the fort I guess. Haven't thought it out yet.
Gregory DG #5 Posted April 3, 2004 I've been to stores in the mall that have old Atari games. Jeez, they want far too much for some of them. $5 for E.T.? The likelihood of finding a Quadrun in there is slim. Those guys are more saavy when it comes to game rarity than the averge Goodwill employee.
taxman #6 Posted April 4, 2004 How much are they paying for Atari games?
