panamajoe #1 Posted April 7, 2004 Guess this has been asked 1000times before... but anyway: What are the must-haves for the SNES? i´ll be owning one in a few days and then i´ll go cart shopping. So what should i look for? I mainly bought the SNES for the Mario and Donkey Kong Plattformers... is there more of good old 2D jumping fun?
The Eidolon #2 Posted April 7, 2004 Depends on your tastes, of course, but I'm a big fan of: Mario All-Stars (Mario 1, 2, 3 + Mario 2 Japan version) Super Mario World Zelda: Link to the Past Chrono Trigger Super Ghouls and Ghosts Final Fantasy III (6 actually) Super Metroid Edit: Probably should add a Bomberman and Mega Man game to the list! That should get you started... --The Eidolon
The Historian #3 Posted April 7, 2004 I'd add: Uniracers Castlevania IV
joeybastard #4 Posted April 7, 2004 All good but I have to add: Choplifter 3 Desert Strike Blackthorne Pilot Wings and about 100 others. I LOVE the Snes

oesii #6 Posted April 7, 2004 I always start by looking at the lists over at DP: Top 50 SNES games: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1160 The SNES is my least played console, I just haven't caught up to it yet, I'm still going through my Sega CD and 3DO phase. But when I do play I like FZero, Super Mario Kart, DK Country, and Powerful Pro Baseball
Adrian M #7 Posted April 7, 2004 Here my most treasured SNES games from back in the day: *Pilotwings *Final Fight (not arcade perfect by any stretch, but still good) *F-Zero *Gradius III (yeah, riddled with slowdown, but it's one of those cool zone-out shooters you can relax to and let your gaming instincts take over) *Super Ghouls N Ghosts (beware, this is a TOUGH game) *Street Fighter II (original or turbo, you can't go wrong) *Space Megaforce *Super Mario World (you haven't truly finished it unless you've unlocked all 96 levels) *StarFox I generally dislike RPG's and I also thought the SNES Zelda was the worst in the series. oesii #8 Posted April 7, 2004 I dislike 99% of RPG's but I've played a few hours of Earthbound and liked it
Dones #9 Posted April 7, 2004 There is a version of Mario All-Stars which includes Super Mario World also (it came as a pack-in with some consoles). Don't forget Contra III and Mario Kart.
Christophero Sly #10 Posted April 7, 2004 A few more I like... Super Smash TV Flashback Super Micro Machines
The Historian #11 Posted April 7, 2004 Flashback comes directly from Out of this World (Another World) Like that game play and Blackthorne will be good as well.
zombiecraig #12 Posted April 7, 2004 If you like Star Wars, the Super Star Wars series is pretty decent. Probably the best Star Wars related platformers. Though they can become redundant.
figgler #13 Posted April 7, 2004 Yoshi's Island is about as fun and well designed as platformers get
Atariboy #14 Posted April 7, 2004 F-Zero Jungle Strike (Desert Strike and Urban Strike are almost as good) Pilotwings Sim City Star Fox Super Mario All-Stars Super Mario Kart Super Mario World Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Super Metroid The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past The Lion King Top Gear Those are my favorites. SS #17 Posted April 8, 2004 I’ve said it before but it always bears repeating : ON THE BALL. Brilliant "reverse Marble Madness" type of game released in the arcades as "Cameltry".
Max-T #18 Posted April 8, 2004 I always thought NBA Jam was a lot of fun to play against a friend. Sports games never seem to get mentioned a lot when people talk about the best games for a given system. My brother got so mad at me playing NBA Jam that he threw the controller at the wall and broke it apart. Now that is an addictive game. Plus, in what other game can you be Bill Clinton and dunk over your choice of superstars?
Raijin Z #19 Posted April 8, 2004 My list? Cybergoth #20 Posted April 8, 2004 Hi there! I remember loving one called "Actraiser". It constantly toggled between two types of levels, one was Jump'n'Run and the other was like Sim City Greetings, Manuel
