Ze_ro
Okay, so how rare are these joypads Atari made for the 7800? I keep seeing some jerk selling them on eBay with an opening bid of $24... I can't imagine them being THAT rare... --Zero

bcprs1
I have the joypad and I'm not crazy about them. I find them somewhat awkward to use. It just doesn't have that Nintendo pad feel to it. I heard that you can use the original sega master system pads in the 7800. I might try that.
latlk
I think they were only available in Europe when the 7800 was originally out, although I think I might have learned that on Ebay, so you'd have to take it with a grain of salt. I don't like them at all, but I had to have a pair for my collection (I'm wacky that way).
+Mitch
quoteOkay, so how rare are these joypads Atari made for the 7800? In the US, they are rare since they were never released here. In Europe they are fairly common since they came with all of the PAL 7800s and some PAL 2600 JRs. The 7800 joystick is harder to find in Europe. If you are talking about boxed 7800 joypads, then I think those are fairly rare even in Europe. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
liveinabin
Yeah, if you really want one, buy one from UK on ebay. The postage on one of those things is gonna be negligible.
sway3
When no one is looking, I use my Sega Genesis controllers on my Atari 2600 & 7800. (shhhh) I tried offering them with my systems on eBay, but there was 0 interest. I eventually bought a few cases of Gemtek controllers and they have been very well received (of course, they look alot like the original Atari joysticks). Oh, I got my Genesis controllers for $2.99 a pair at Toys R Us (on clearance) and I saw some at K Mart last night...
