chairmonkey4406 #1 Posted April 13, 2004 Wow, I just thought of something. Did atari put out commercials for Adventure? If so what did they do in them? I can just see someone saying guide your "Adventurer" through the kingdom to find the lost chalice as it shows the dot walking around maybe killing a duck dragon with the arrow sword. I just thought it would be a funny site to see.
Tempest #2 Posted April 13, 2004 You know, I don't remember commercials for specific titles until around 81-82. I may be wrong though since I was quite young at the time. Usually they were just generic "Play all these great games on your 2600" commercials. Tempest
Room 34 #3 Posted April 13, 2004 I don't remember either (since I had never even heard of Atari, somehow, until 1982)... but I would guess at the very least that they didn't promote individual games prior to Space Invaders. (S.I. did come out after Adventure, right?)
Stingray #4 Posted April 13, 2004 I remember commercials for the systems, but not the games. I don't remember seeing any advertisement at all (other than the Atari catalogs) for Adventure. -S
ANTHONY ATARI #5 Posted April 13, 2004 A FEW YEARS AGO A GUY NAMED ANDY FLOYD WAS SELLING TAPES OF THE ACTUAL ATARI COMMERCIALS. IT'S PRETTY COOL TO HEAR. I BOUGHT MY COPY AROUND 1997 OR SO. IT WAS PROMOTED BY 2600 CONNECTION, BUT I DON'T KNOW THE WRITING ADDESS ANYMORE. IT HAS THE COMMERCIALS FOR MANY ATARI GAMES, BUT I DONT THINK ADVENTURE WAS ONE OF THEM. ANDY FLOYD TAPED HIS COMMERCIALS IN THE EARLY 80S. HOWEVER ADVENTURE CAME OUT IN THE LATE SEVENTIES.
kheffington #6 Posted April 13, 2004 ANTHONY ATARI is your keyboard broken? All of your posts are in CAPS.
Nukey Shay #7 Posted April 13, 2004 Maybe they haven't started on lower-case yet j/k But yeah, no specific titles for games back then AFAIK.
ATARIPITBULL #8 Posted April 13, 2004 I have seen a lot of the old commercials for Atari 2600, but I also have never seen one for just Adventure, but I just ordered a CDRom from a man in Denmark that has about 50 Atari commercial and I will let you know what it has when I receive it. AtariDude #9 Posted April 16, 2004 Maybe they haven't started on lower-case yet j/k But yeah, no specific titles for games back then AFAIK. Maybe he is using an Apple II series computer to log onto the Net. The Apple II series did not have lowercase keys built into the machine (but I think one programmer did create software that eventually allowed the Apple II series to use lower case).
