figgler #1 Posted April 13, 2004 I am trying to put together a "subcollection" of all NES wrestling titles. Any one know what I should be looking for, or have a complete list of wrestling games for the system?
Adrian M #2 Posted April 13, 2004 I owned Pro Wrestling (Nintendo), Tag Team Wrestling (Irem/Data East), and Hulk Hogan Wrestling (Acclaim) back in the day. I believe some WWF versions did make it out eventually, but I was bored with wrestling by then.
Saikyo #3 Posted April 13, 2004 WWF Steel Cage Challenge (Acclaim?) and Muscle (Sorry dont know the manufacturer) are two wrestle games on NES that I know of
Adrian M #4 Posted April 13, 2004 and Muscle (Sorry dont know the manufacturer) Ah yes, M.U.S.C.L.E. made by none other than BANDAI. Pretty bad game, even for its time.
zombiecraig #5 Posted April 13, 2004 Let's see: Pro Wrestling (Nintendo) Tag Team Wrestling (Data East) M.U.S.C.L.E. (Bandai) WWF WrestleMania (Acclaim) I think this is the one previously mentioned as "Hulk Hogan Wrestling", as it does have Hogan on the cover ripping his shirt off. And it was from Acclaim. I don't think there has ever been a game called Hulk Hogan Wrestling. WWF WrestleMania Challenge (Acclaim/LJN) Tecmo World Wrestling (Tecmo) WCW World Championship Wrestling (FCI) WWF WrestleMania Steel Cage Challenge (Acclaim/LJN) WWF King of the Ring (Acclaim/LJN) Those are all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure that is all of the U.S. released NES wrestling games.
Rocko #6 Posted April 13, 2004 The only ones I know about are already mentioned, but I figured this is worth saying. If you like wrestling games (which I am sure you do, as you are trying to make a collection) get pro wrestling. That is the BEST nes wrestling game (and my favorite all time wrestling game)
Great Hierophant #7 Posted April 13, 2004 Beyond Pro Wrestling and Tecmo World Wrestling, all those games suck.
figgler #8 Posted April 13, 2004 Thanks for the input, the lists and recommendations'll help. I agree that most of these games do suck, but it's more of a kitschy thing and I like to "have them all" as it were. BTW - I have Pro Wresting, have for years and it kind of sucks too. Don't get me wrong, it's cool enough and easily the best NES wrestling game, but it is really just a button masher. If you use the NES Advantage, challenge factor = zero. Great Hierophant #9 Posted April 13, 2004 Absolutely, but I have a soft spot for Pro Wrestling, it actually has character while the other games all look and sound like crap with midget wrestlers.
zombiecraig #10 Posted April 13, 2004 Yeah, it's strange how the first wrestling game for the NES is the best. You would have thought that they could have improved a little over time. The best of the WWF games in my opinion is WWF WrestleMania Challenge. But I agree that Tecmo World Wrestling and Pro Wrestling are the two best games on that list. I tried to play TWW a while back and found it to be nearly impossible. Maybe I forgot how to play it, but I think I finished it a one point over a rental period in my youth. Then again, maybe I used a turbo controller...

Shortly #12 Posted April 13, 2004 I kinda enjoyed Tag-Team Wrestling. Once you figured out the control scheme, it wasn't too bad.

I've already assembled: WWF Royal Rumble WWF Super Wrestle Mania WWF WrestleMania Arcade Game WCW Superbrawl Wrestling Saturday Night Slam Masters what am I missing? Brad2600 #17 Posted April 28, 2004 Never even see M.U.S.C.L.E I'll have to find that one. I have almost all of the NES wrestling games.
Saikyo #18 Posted April 28, 2004 I dont think M.U.S.C.L.E was ever released in the UK but I found some screenshots of it you have got like some super deformed wrestlers each with different personalities like say a soldier or a knight. If I find some screenshots ill lead you to them but I forget where I got the original screens from!
figgler #19 Posted July 9, 2004 how can there be a thread about NES Pro Wrestling without... I've always assumed the infamous "A winner is you" screen is legit, but what gives with my copy of the game? Played for about a half hour last night with Starman and the grammar is correct - it says only "Winner is you" throughout...
