Dones #26 Posted April 21, 2004 well the N64 incarnations weren't all that bad. per-say. but now they are just beating the dead horse! really! When you think about it there are many similarities between the N64 and the Gamecube. Omitting the obvious ones like both consoles have 4 ports and came in different colors: In both Nintendo decided not to use a feature everyone else is using (CD medium/DVD play capability). Both suffered from game droughts. Both had companies who announced their defection or disinterest in producing games for it. Comparing games: Both had the obligaroty Nintendo sequels (Mario/Zelda/Mario Kart-Golf-Party-insert-favorite-noun-here :lol:/Smash Bros/1080/Waverace). N64 had two Zeldas (based on the same game engine) and GC will (hopefully) have two Wind Wakers. Both GC and N64 have two rogue leader-based games. N64 had Harvest Moon, GC got a similar Animal Crossing. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo announced an Excitebike 64 sequel. Both consoles had weak sports line-ups. I don't think these observations are a bad thing. Sony did repeat some design choices and had their share of obligatory sequels on its consoles. It's just hard to stay a Nintendo fan when you are all grown up.

VidGameKing #29 Posted April 21, 2004 When you think about it there are many similarities between the N64 and the Gamecube and games! look at mario sunshine!!!!!!!!!!!! tell me they couldn't realease that on the N64!!!!
MegaManFan #30 Posted April 21, 2004 They couldn't. The rendering is way more sophisticated than what N64 can put out. It's a great game but take off the goggles and look at it closely to see all the "jaggies" in how areas are drawn, and the rough edges of Mario himself. I think they could have released it on the N64 no sweat!
MegaManFan #32 Posted April 21, 2004 That's easy to say, since neither one of us program for N64, but much harder to do. Look how bad Super Mario World looked when somebody tried to port it to the NES.
