belty #1 Posted April 15, 2004 Just got Oink loose cart, find it very addictive. However, if you had to reccomend a game to somebody that has never played a 2600 and think of them as 8 bit crap which game would it be, not the best graphic but additictive gameplay, a game you can play over and over any genre, common or rare, which would it be? jeepnut24 #2 Posted April 15, 2004 Kaboom... Asteroids... Those are my top two picks. I always end up playing for at least an hour when I pick one of those up. I only recently got Kaboom, and I never got to experience it as a kid. As far as recommending games though, Id have to say just about anything with Activision on it, is pretty addicting and pretty cutting edge for the 2600. Adrian M #3 Posted April 15, 2004 My top 5 addictive VCS games are: 1. Wizard of Wor 2. Ms. Pac-Man 3. Asteroids 4. Berzerk 5. Missile Command
Philflound #4 Posted April 15, 2004 Well, there are several that comes to mind. Video Pinball was always addicting to me, and I could play it for hours. Even on hard level, it was easy. Pac-Man, once you got to know the pattern was another one. I knew it many moons ago, wow 20 years have passed already, but have long since forgotten it. Though it was another game that you could just play for hours. Space Invaders was another game that was so easy as long as you were player 1. Another game that I turned over about 12 times before I finally quit. Easy patterns. I guess you could throw in Asteroids, Defender, and Warlords. Adventure and Haunted House for me always brought great memories and excitement. I stuck with only Atari made games. If you want to expand to the 3rd party companies, Popeye and Q*Bert was always fun, and I love Star Wars ESB. Sea Hunt and Megamania were other favs along with Keystone Kapers and Kaboom. Demon Attack by Imagic was probably my favorite and most addicting of all that companies games. Coleco to me was always great with their games, but playing them on Colecovision was more exciting for Atari. It pretty much didn't matter which games they were, but I definitely would go with DK, DK Jr, Frontline, Venture, Mouse Trap, and Time Pilot. Mr Do had to be my all time favorite of all Colecovision games. The M Network games were cool, especially the sports ones. I also found Wizard of War by CBS to be real cool. I know I left out many more games, but this just touched the tip. Just because it's 8-bit with low graphics doesn't mean it can't be fun! Phil
Chris++ #5 Posted April 15, 2004 As far as "Ooh, you just try that again, you jerks!" (RESET), my picks would be Frostbite and Stampede. Arcade? Defender II, Robotron: 2084 and Joust. All Williams. Interesting.
Whisper #6 Posted April 15, 2004 Atlantis. Easy concept and difficulty levels for everyone. Even a kiddy-mode so that I last longer than 3 waves I also find myself playing Bowling a lot. Still going for the all-strike game I have developed a technique to get a strike a lot, but I can only do it with my QuickShot joystic and the position of your bowler and the curve of your ball have to be exactly right. And if you have a second player handy, who can resist Video Olympics?
Stingray #7 Posted April 15, 2004 Adventure, Pitfall!, Pitfall II, Superman. If I had a VCS and only those four games I'd be happy. -S
