Adrian M #1 Posted April 16, 2004 Some of us are collectors who build museums of games hardware and software. Others are simply gamers who buy the latest console just to play the current games. Regardless, all of us have a game system in mind (new or old) that we have on our "must buy someday" list. Think long and hard about this...you can add the XBOX 2 if that's what you're truly waiting for. Or perhaps you've had your eye on an Atari 5200 to see what all the fuss is about. Using that approach, list the next gaming hardware unit you plan to purchase! As for Adrian M, the XBOX 2 without a doubt....but it's still a ways off (trust me on that) and I'm seriously contemplating getting a new N-GAGE QD when they launch in June. Aside from that, nothing but the XBOX 2! Your thoughts? Feelings?
Adrian M #3 Posted April 16, 2004 a Vectrex Yes, good choice there Lemmi! Will you be buying the multicart for it, or will you go the traditional route and buy up each game individually?
Lemmi #4 Posted April 16, 2004 a Vectrex Yes, good choice there Lemmi! Will you be buying the multicart for it, or will you go the traditional route and buy up each game individually? i might get a multicart eventually, but i have to start off collecting oldschool style first
Clock #5 Posted April 16, 2004 I may retire the Lynx and buy either a PSONE with LCD attachment to play in the car on my lunch breaks or a Gameboy SP. As for my next main console I will wait until Xbox2/PS3/N5 all come out and choose whichever offers me the best gaming experience. Currently that's Xbox, but next gen it could be any of the 3. figgler #7 Posted April 16, 2004 Nintendo DS of course!
cryptik76 #8 Posted April 16, 2004 I don't know what I'm going to get next. My Gamecube and Dreamcast are keeping me happy as far as console gaming goes, but I think I might get an Xbox before Fable and Jade Empire come out.
NintendoDieScreaming #9 Posted April 16, 2004 X-box 2, maybe a N-Gage (or N-Gage 2/QD) when they find themselves in the garbage bin, and of course, the much fabled Dreamcast 2.
cimerians #10 Posted April 17, 2004 YES: X-Box 2 -- I have been happy with Microsofts support with the first X-Box. PS3 -- PS2 has been a dissapointment somewhat, but I might be forced to buy it because I like RPG's, (SUIKODEN series) MAYBE: Gamecube 3 - Probably not. (even though I like my current Gamecube) Unless it goes down in price over time and its backwards compatible with Gamecube. NO: NGage, PSP etc. -- I'm not into portable systems. Hmmm....no other classic systems although it would be cool to have that Vectrex. (I have Atari 26005200, CV, INT, NES, SNES, Genesis)
Jasoco #11 Posted April 17, 2004 Well, well.. Um.. well.. Hmm... I KNOW I'll be getting the next N system. And the next Xbox. But I don't know which first or when. It will probably be the N5 first. But it really depends on the games at launch. It took a Smash Bros. to convince me to get my Cube in 2001. But even though Halo was out for a while, it took me a year to get an Xbox. And I didn't even pay for that. (Present.) So one of those will be my next Console. As for the rest. I will seriously look into the DS when it comes out. And if it is what it should be and is priced right and does cool stuff and maybe makes me breakfast in the morning and helps around the house, I'll get that too. I don't plan on getting the QD or PSP for a WHILE now. PSP probably first. But both only if enough convincing games and a nice price are there. But I don't see it happening. So I can see two Nintendo systems in my future. And as usual, Sony gets the last choice. Especially if the PS3 STILL uses the fucking PS2/PS1 controller configuration. I am SICK of it. SS #12 Posted April 17, 2004 What is the next game system you plan to buy? Hopefully nothing until the next-gen Gameboy comes out. I've got too much damned stuff as it is.
AtariDude #13 Posted April 17, 2004 I will probably get the PS3 but hopefully they will make it a much better improvement than the PS2 was in comparison to the PS1. Don't get me wrong. The PS2 is a fine machine but I wonder if the PS had not been so popular how many people would have bought it compared to the other machines.
SS #14 Posted April 17, 2004 I wonder if the PS had not been so popular how many people would have bought it compared to the other machines. Answered your own question there, I think.

SteveW #16 Posted April 17, 2004 I think the last console I really want to buy would be a working Atari 5200. I have one with no power supply, and I have no idea if it actually works. But I don't have much of a reason to get one. Adventure II is the only reason i'd like one.
eldunko #17 Posted April 17, 2004 Infinium Phantom, because i like to pay for things that give me nothing material in return. I also like buying Viagra off the internet.
chrishicks #18 Posted April 17, 2004 I plan on buying a Lynx II or Intellivision next. the next gen PS or X-BOX are not on my list for atleast a year. I haven't used my current PS1/2 or X-BOX in some time. I've been mainly in retro mode for the last few months. besides that, I don't think I could even work the modern stuff again after mindblowing hours of playing Asteroids or K.C. Munchkin. shep #19 Posted April 17, 2004 Considering I have yet to see any actual Nextgen titles, I have not made a decision on what next-gen console to buy
Major Havoc 2049 #20 Posted April 17, 2004 Definitely- Xbox 2. Dead or Alive 4 and Perfect Dark Zero at launch. Hell ya! Probably- Nintendo DS, especially if it is backwards compatible and Konami keeps the Castlevania love coming. Keeping an eye on- Sony PSP. It just might have a bunch of cool games and too many cool features to pass up.
Happy_Dude #21 Posted April 17, 2004 I'v found a few really good PS/2 titles really cheap in the past few weeks So thats next on my hit list. When I can find one under AU$200 (with even 2nd hand being around $250 still) But for the most part I'm happy with what I'v got and plan on expanding my Cube library and my 2600 homebrew collection
DeV0 #22 Posted April 17, 2004 I dont think there are any pal consoles left to buy,,, Ah, a 3do would be my next already existing machine. In the future im looking forward to what nintendo have to offer.

Mr.FoodMonster #25 Posted April 17, 2004 It seems to be a popular choice. The reason its really appealing to me is that I never have to hook up/un hook the baby, and that its the only at home Vector graphics console.
