liveinabin #1 Posted April 17, 2004 AAAARGGHH!! That's the sound of a man who, last night finished Ridge Racer 1, performing the kind of powerslides that would make a grown man weep, only to move onto its sequel tonight and totally bail out! I've been racing for 2 solid hours on this now and I swear, I haven't powerslid round a single bend without slamming into a wall!! Not one turn!! What the hell gives here? Can anyone tell me how to powerslide in RRR? I've consulted the manual but it doesn't seem to know. It has this to say:- Learn to skid around corners: when approaching a sharp bend, start to turn the wheels, release the accelerator so that the rear wheels begin to drift out, then re-apply the power as the car straightens up to accelerate away. So, just the same as Ridge Racers 1 and 4 then. Only this time, the car doesn't 'straighten up'. If you do as instructed, you pull off a lovely 360 and stop! If you try to correct your skid by (god forbid) steering to where you want the car to go, the car skids left, right, left, right and then slams into a wall. I'm losing the plot here and I don't want to risk throwing my precious NegCon at something hard. If you've ever got round a corner with the paintwork intact - PLEASE HELP!!! GrizzLee #3 Posted April 19, 2004 Are you referring to Rage Racer? I recently picked that title up and played if for about 4 hours. You are correct. It doesn't have the feel of the orginal. I basically gave up. Try R4 if you haven't already. It is much more refined. -Lee
liveinabin #4 Posted April 19, 2004 Ridge Racer Revolution was the one before Rage Racer, similar crap handling though, although Rage is even more unfair by actually penalising you for powersliding - it's a damned grip car game! Yeah, Ridge Racer Type 4 is my favourite game of all time. Not a week has passed when I haven't played it since it's release in 99. Awesome awesome game, especially with the Jogcon. BTW, if anyone has, knows where to find a US R4 and Jogcon box set, I'd like to buy it
