+-^CrossBow^- #6 Posted April 20, 2004 Easy answers...well..sorta. You already have 3 systems from Nintendo. You got 2 from Sega And you have the one and Only Sony product you will need So, to round it out, you should get one of the following.. 7800 from your list Jaguar from your list TG16 as you don't have any NEC stuff yet. And this would likely be the only NEC you would want or need. I would recommend adding either the 5200 or the Lynx as well. The Lynx in fact might be the next best choice to add one more (portable) to your collection. And most of the Lynx can be had for far cheaper than titles on the other systems. After this..go for either the Saturn (Hey I really like mine..and still prefer Daytona on the Saturn over the DC...yes...I know...I am not well...) Or SNES. I have a ton of fun with my SNES but many of the notable games will and can cost you as much as some of the other consoles your wanting...and more. So the SNES can be a pricey one to collect for. Only when you win the lottery and are set for life, should you then tackle the most insane and expensive of all the beasts....NeoGeo...I haven't even started..and won't for quite some time to come. I haven't won that lottery yet...

I haven't won that lottery yet... what!!!!! I thought you did!!!! crap, okay, I'm not going to be ucking up to you anymore! and as for what system to buy... 5200!!!!! or DC
candiru #8 Posted April 20, 2004 Well, perhaps being a little biased I'd recommend getting another Atari system. The Dreamcast is nice though. That will probably be my next purchase. It might be a little awhile though since my number of consoles and games has outstripped my free time lately. Also I like to space out the intervals of the "Another one??!!" reaction I get when I bring home a new system.
Adrian M #9 Posted April 20, 2004 TurboGrafx, hands down. Avoid the Dreamcast if at all possible...well, get it to play Shenmue 1 (Shenmue 2 is on the XBOX, so that reduces the need for a DC even further). Otherwise, avoid it at all costs.

I'm shocked! you were so pro DC back when it just got cancled whats happend? Meh. Aside from Shenmue, the rest of the DC library is riddled with low quality titles (riddled with pop-up, inconsistent framerates, and that damn annoyingly loud grating drive motor!). The final nails in the coffin were the bumbling ways of Sega's management team and the fact that my DC simply "died" for no apparent reason when loading a game. All for the best I suppose. Yes, I bought a replacement unit at Gamestop and I do keep it around, but it's mainly for playing Shenmue when the mood strikes me. If Shenmue 1 were ever released on the XBOX, then I'd promptly dispose of my DC in an instant!
VidGameKing #12 Posted April 20, 2004 I'd promptly dispose of my DC in an instant! well let us know when you do, I'm sure there are plenty of people on this board who would enjoy a DC. complete with Shenmue 1!

VidGameKing #14 Posted April 20, 2004 I'd get more enjoyment out of throwing it away! Understandable. I have lost track of the number of PS2s that I've enjoyed destroying after their breakage!

rc #20 Posted April 21, 2004 It depends on what types of games you like to play. If you like RPGs I would say go with the SNES. Otherwise I would probably pick Gamecube. Since it is still new you can get preowned games anywhere pretty cheap. Sure Dreamcast games should be cheaper now but every time I'm at Gamestop or EB the Dreamcast selection is already picked over and I never see anything of interest. VidGameKing #22 Posted April 21, 2004 why make sports games? does anyone here actually play everyone that comes out? religiuosly?
Adrian M #23 Posted April 21, 2004 why make sports games? does anyone here actually play everyone that comes out? religiuosly? Apparently yes. There is a market for sports games, which is why we see so many iterations released each year. Nothing wrong with some NFL FEVER (Microsoft) and the occassional racing title (Non-Nascar) every now and then.
candiru #24 Posted April 21, 2004 why make sports games? does anyone here actually play everyone that comes out? religiuosly? I think so many sports titles get cranked out just because they're almost like a disposable game. I've never enjoyed them that much, but there actually are quite a few people that, buy the new version just because it has a different year added to the title. VidGameKing #25 Posted April 21, 2004 I think. it's very interesting. sports titles are the real beef of the videogame industry. it's a game that every joe-schmoe can play.
