NovaXpress #1 Posted April 28, 2004 Business 2.0 A lot of fluff in the article (the first page is really just an ad for the website), but interesting that Sony already signed 89 developers. EA is planning on having 12 games ready for launch. Clearly, this is not gonna be another N-Gage.
eric_ruck #2 Posted April 28, 2004 I'm still skeptical. I keep thinking PSX...Too little system, too much money.
Adrian M #3 Posted April 28, 2004 Clearly, this is not gonna be another N-Gage. That's true. It will be yet another horrid SONY gaming device. That's reason enough to stay far, far away!
figgler #4 Posted April 28, 2004 I think Sony needs to realise that a portable system needs to be simple. Pick up and play is what it is all about with handhelds. You have to able to play this thing in the backseat of a car, in a bus station etc in 5 minute intervals if needed. I can't help but think Sony is envisioning gamers playing a PSP on their couches. Portables need to be quick, easy, small, and durable enough for a seven year old kid to use. The PSP is none of this - memory cards for a portable? Wireless this and that. PS1 esque game depth, why? Complexity on the go will never crack the GBA market and I don't think it will carve out a market of it's own either.
pmpddytim #5 Posted April 28, 2004 Heres how it works out for me. If a handheld is more than $100.00 I'm not buying. I dont care what it does. All I want in a handheld is simple pick up and go gameplay. I'll stick w/ my gameboy w/ 100's of games to choose from. -Tim

Xot #7 Posted April 29, 2004 The article claims the PSOne was the first CD based game console. Their credibility was shot after that.
Jasoco #8 Posted April 29, 2004 Heres how it works out for me. If a handheld is more than $100.00 I'm not buying.Exactly. Handhelds should not cost so much. Frankly, as much of a stranglehold on the Console market Sony has, I don't see them winning the Handheld market. Not at $200-300 especially. The article claims the PSOne was the first CD based game console. Their credibility was shot after that. I wrote the Editor telling them about their really stupid mistake and lack of ability to do research.
MegaManFan #9 Posted April 29, 2004 Expecting any magazine or newspaper to do fact checking or research any more is laughable. I remember being pissed in 1999 when Russell Simmons launched a hip-hop site called 360World (mercifully it's gone now) and a dumb-ass Vibe Magazine writer called it something to the effect of "hip-hop's FIRST EVER large and comprehensive website." Funny how that idiot completely neglected that OHHLA.com, HipHopSite.com, SOHH.com among others had all been around YEARS before Russell Simmons ever even dreamed of a rap website.
