A Main 8-Bit Section on AA...

Recommended Posts

I just Googled "Gateway to Apshai" because I couldn't remember the controls (who uses Start/Select/Option in a game anyway?) and my search revealed an AtariAge page!

Well of course I clicked on it and found the cart picture, box picture, and a rom (on the 'traditional' AA screens)! Are we close to an 8-bit section here? Hope hope hope...

I know they have been working on it for a while now.

I just took a look at it and you can browse different titles by changing the SoftwareLabelID.

Although Al will probly close this backdoor when he finds this thread :D

cool! I can't wait to see this section completed. I've been anxiously watching to see the cart and box scans of those classic games.

Pop Quiz:

One Activision title is missing.  What is it?

I'm thinking "Zone Ranger" - but I think I might be thinking of the 5200 version...

Yes Zone Ranger is missing.

Now here's another little tidbit. Look at the part numbers, see anything "missing"?

CZ-001 - River Raid

CZ-002 - Kaboom!

CZ-003 - MegaMania

CZ-004 - Pitfall!

CZ-005 - Dreadnought Factor, The

CZ-006 - Keystone Kapers

CZ-007 - H.E.R.O.

CC-008 - Decathlon

CA-009 - Beamrider

CZ-010 - Zenji

CA-011 - Pitfall II: Lost Caverns

CA-012 - Space Shuttle: A Journey Into Space

CC-101 - Zone Ranger

CC-102 - Designer's Pencil, The

CC-103 - ??????????

CC-104 - Pastfinder

My theory is that CC-103 was supposed to be Toy Bazzare.

Yes, it is Zone Ranger. You both win a free ... well, nothing.

CC-103 "Toy Bazzare"

They didn't release it because of the strange spelling, too bizarre. :D

But seriously, I can't say that I have ever run across a mention of an unreleased Activision 8-bit title. There must be a few.

Maybe someone at Activision knows. Ken Love, are you there?

I would think that any unreleased Activision titles would be from 1986-1987; perhaps there's A8 ports of "Hacker II" or "Little Computer People" floating around somewhere. :)

I'd like to think that "Toy Bizarre" was ported for the 8-bits, but I never did hear any rumours that it was being ported from the C64.

I don't usually browse the Atari Computer section but I noticed that Roklan made computer games for the 800. Would this be the same Roklan that made the Un-Roller controllers? I have a boxed set of those.

Don't know but they DID make a "Space Invaders" clone that was 100% better than the crap one that Atari put out.
