anyone know of any classic video gaming tournaments?

anyone know of any classic video gaming tournaments that have been or are being held anywhere? or maybe a video game world record list that is still in effect? i remember hearing of all the sanctioned tournaments held from the asteroids days on up to the famous nintendo world championships, but i haven't heard of any tournaments out there now that focus on the classic 8-16bit games, the ones out there now seem to all be for current systems. seems as though there would be classic tounaments held out there somewhere, any one know of any?
