adams_ale #2 Posted May 2, 2004 That is absolutely insane! How the hell did he think he was going to get away with that one?!? At least it's not Atari items this guy was buying. I can snipe in peace, whew.

Albert #6 Posted May 2, 2004 "Newburger is charged with burglary, criminal possession of a weapon, and coercion. His trial is scheduled for May 10 and he faces a mandatory term of 5-25 years in prison if found guilty." Mandatory term, ouch. I wonder which of the charges requires that (perhaps coercion with a deadly weapon?) I don't see how he's going to get out of this, he already admitted to being in the house with the weapon. Amazing, all that over $360 worth of "stuff". ..Al
tantone56 #7 Posted May 2, 2004 i met a guy face to face once after winning a police scanner once... seemed harmless enough
Lost Monkey #8 Posted May 2, 2004 Amazing' date=' all that over $360 worth of "stuff". ..Al[/quote'] What's more amazing is that it is over something that he has no claim to at all... its not like he was ripped off, or short-shipped - he was only outbid! Yeah I just don't trust them eBay. Why heck' date=' you could get yer credit cards stolen, they could steal yer identity - jeeze you'd be getting yer haircut and the barber would just look at you and know you waren't really there. Next thing, sombody done outbid you, too.[/quote']
tiggerthehun #9 Posted May 3, 2004 Only ebay'er I ever met face to face was the fella that delivered my Bagman to my door. I had no reservations about meeting him face to face, especially considering he was lugging a behemoth to my house for free!
SteveW #10 Posted May 3, 2004 Why was the guy so obsessed with a bunch of old, used school band uniforms? He held on to the anger for a year after he lost the auction! It's not like he was trying to buy them for a local school band that needed them, he was just going to resell them. That's one seriously screwed up human being. I'm an eBayphobe. Mainly because of stories like this one. It's the middle story, about a guy selling plasma screen TVs on eBay, but only sending them pictures of a TV. AtariLeaf #11 Posted May 3, 2004 I heard he was really from OHIO Hmmm. The guy both I and Devils Advocate had problems with had his address out of Ohio too. He was really pissed about somebody ripping him off well over a year after the fact. Hmmm . . .
dinosaur #12 Posted December 22, 2006 I meet people face to face from Craig'sList all the time. With one exception, they have been nice people that I have enjoyed meeting. Two have become friends of mine.
lemoncurry #13 Posted December 23, 2006 I see the news link has long expired, but I was curious as to how he managed to fly through the air like the headline said he literally did.
edman87k5 #14 Posted December 23, 2006 I have no problems meeting face to face from ebay. I have bought and sold a couple large ticket items and picked them up in person. I do always offer to meet at a local mcdonalds or somthing just in case people are scared or somthing.

shadow460 #18 Posted December 25, 2006 Oh, rats. I missed the birthday party. I have enough trouble meeting people IRL for other reasons...matchmaking sites, appointments, etc. I'd still meet someone for a local pickup on an ebay item, though, I suppose. bjk7382 #21 Posted December 26, 2006 I guess there is no sense in me posting that the link is dead - LOL I hate when I read an entire thread only to find out it's years old, at least this one was short if you hover over the title of the thread before you click on it, it tells you the date it was created. so i knew this thread was old before i even read any of it
