Drakonic Duke #1 Posted May 3, 2004 Take a look at this(specificly the last few questions) it seems there is a possibley of a FF7-2. http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/kingdomhea...ws_6076646.html
Susuwatari #2 Posted May 3, 2004 What is the point of the title Final Fantasy if it has 13 or so sequels (including X-2 and whatever else) plus dozens of spinoffs like FF Tactics, FF Adventure and FF Legents. At this rate, there will be more FF games than there are Mario games.
chrisbid #3 Posted May 3, 2004 because it was square's last gasp at not going out of business in the late 80's, its speculated that is partly why they used the term Final in the title of the game. before Final Fantasy (a Dragon Warrior ripoff), they made Rad Racer (an Outrun ripoff), and 3D Worldrunner (a Space Harrier ripoff). Now look at them, they took over Enix, and are light years ahead of Sega (in terms of profit), but as far as making original games....
Drakonic Duke #4 Posted May 3, 2004 Jeez I though people would be happy since it is practially everyones fav FF game. And what is with yall, everyones all excited going thay should make an FF7 sequal not an FFX2, and now you say its crap. Dragon Warrior ripoff? Do you not remeber that the FF series was a pioneer in RPGs, they didn't have a big choice at that time but to take a approach that worked. Also remeber that awfule FFX2 was made by Enex. This was because of Square's financial disaster of the Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie. The resulting company was named "Square-Enix" because Square was a more easily recognizable and marketable brand name.
chrisbid #6 Posted May 3, 2004 I think it was a merger, Enix wanted a stronger US presence. But Square did get the first billing in the new name.
Jasoco #7 Posted May 5, 2004 It doesn't matter how crappy FF games are, my brother will still buy them and beat them. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have any FF games in my collection. He's already beaten V, VI, VII VIII, IX, X and X-2 and now Kingdom Hearts. Geeze.. I can't get into any of them. The most I played one was V because I preferred the SNES style graphics over the pre-rendered "Where the hell do I go now, where's the freaking exit doorway?" Final Fantasy VII. But I gave up on that in the ship.
liveinabin #8 Posted May 5, 2004 I liked FFVII and I'm not surprised at this move by SquareEnix. The whole Japanese games industry is in a mad panic at the moment, I think it's just hitting home that Mario and Sonic games (as well as traditional RPGs) are no longer a sure fire hit. They don't know what the public wants, so they're doing Disney-esque desperate sequels to try and pick up on past successes. Shame really, I think Japan just needs to stop looking to the west and just carry on with what it was doing so well in the mid 90s. Otherwise, they're going to have a completely stale games industry on their hands (if they haven't already).
StanJr #9 Posted May 5, 2004 If there is going to BE a sequel to any FF game it should probably be 7. But I just don't see how. I mean the story was pretty much complete. I love the characters and I loved the materia and the gaming system, and it would be neat to see them again (I grew attached ), but I just think ANY sequel really screws with the whole FF "thing." Ah well, the decision will be made by money, so it doesn't really matter what we think anyway. If Square thinks they can make money off of it, it will happen. AtariDude #10 Posted May 8, 2004 Has anyone played with FF X-2 and what did you think of it? Do you feel that perhaps it was better if it was not released? I heard that they are going to make a movie based upon FF7. That I would like forward to seeing. I would have liked to have finished the game as I really enjoyed it. I did get to finish FFX but so far, that has been the only one that I have finished.
Scooterb23 #11 Posted May 8, 2004 Stupid me for thinking that the sequal to FF VII might have been FF VIII... Obviously, I never played the games...
