Delta Music Composer

Recommended Posts

Is there somebody here who can tell me how to load a complete song into the delta composer.

I found out

Shift + L = Load Instrument(s)

Control + L = Load pattern

But how can i load (and save!) complete songs?

I tried (as far as i know) every keycombination; including SHIFT + CONTROL + key

Thanks

M

write to the author, there is documentation and newer versions of the program.

I will add that the delta player is fast enough and has the ability to configure channels that you can use to play music while loading data from the disk, as was used in the game DeatChaseXE and MazezaM.

Konop have account on this forum? I'll try to contact him. I saw your IO xBios music - this stuff is pretty good.

I saw recently raster time of the CMC/MPT players and most of the time they are unacceptable to me. I will try to use Future Composer because I started on a similar program on C64 (Voicetracker) and DLT seems looks like a nice option.

Well... No docs there as the program was intend to be as CMC-similar as possible.

But in quite short way...

"DELTA" - load program

TAB - go between windows

CAPS (anywhere) change BASS/PURE freq table (suitable for entering notes more or less in-tune)

When in "instrument" window:

- Shift+L/S - load/save intrument,

- Ctrl+L/S - load/save pattern(?) - never used it, though

- Ctrl+E - instrument edit (see demosongs to learn them)

- Ctrl+P - parameters editing (as above)

- "Z" to "/", "S" to ";", "Q" to "P", "2" to "O" - play notes of current instrument

- arrows - change instrument

- CLEAR/INSERT (cut/paste instrument)

When in "pattern" window:

- "Z" to "/", "S" to ";", "Q" to "P", "2" to "O" - enter and play notes of current instrument

- Crtl+P - play pattern (+Shift - play it from beginning)

- Ctrl+arrows: <- -> change instrument to be entered, up/dn - change octave

- arrows - change pattern

- CLEAR/INSERT (cut/paste pattern)

Should be all but let me know if something's still unclear.

- Ctrl+E - insert "pattern break"

- Crtl+T (then arrows) - tanspose current instrument (note transpose by FF equals by -1, so 8 bit with sign[?])

- Ctrl+D - delete notes of selected instrument in pattern

- Ctrl+H/X - (eX)cHange instrument (don't know if there's difference between)

- Shift+up/dn arrow - change tempo in pattern (doesn't affect all song, only to demo pattern)

- Ctrl+B/Ctrl+K, Ctrl+C - select beginning/end of block, copy block

- Ctrl+M - metronome sound of/off

When in "song" window:

arrows - move aroun

7F-7F (pattern number [00-3F] - transpose [00-FF])

Special commands (only in 1st column of CH1): 40 (S:) - Stop, 41 (J:) - jump to line ...,  42 -  (T:) - global tempo (can be entered more than a time), note: S:  and J: commands can separate subsongs

Ctrl+P - play from current line

Crtl+(Shift)+Esc - exit or (RESET in emulator, warm reset, to be precise)

From command processor:

RUN 5000 - return to program

LOA FILE.EXT (ie. BLUESTAR.DLT) - load music

SAV MYMUSIC.DLT 2000 4BFF - save music

@T - alternative bass table (currently set to: RZOGBASS.TBL) should be loaded every time you want to use it (after loading DELTA).

Attached 1.7 version with more demosongs and instruments and (hehe) CMC->DELTA converter. :)

(no "siddy" synth)

...and probably different slides, so beware.

Never mind.

But in attached example you have mutliple speed changes and subsongs (not counting many different instruments).

You can press after that Shift+up/dn arrow to increase/decrease wolume of whole instrument. And regarding values under envelope first row is kind of accent (0 - none, 1 - fexed value, 2 - never used so dn't know, 3 - value with note-offset), second and third is its value, and the lowest is distortion (warning - REAL POKEY distortions, not RMT ones).

OK, parameters value (from highest one):

- D208 (AUDCTL value)

- time to fade-out (in frames) - for longer instruments

- instrument portamento (+/-) value

- arpeggio (00-7f) or vibrato (80-FF) speed

- four lowest ones - arpeggio/vibrato depth

Also, to have synth with offset, here's value to play with (last one - here's "0c" so higher row can be also tampered :D).
