Don't write off the NGage just yet! Nokia today announced eight new titles for its N-Gage platform. The eight new titles are Civilization and DRIV3R from Atari, FIFA 2005 and SSX Out of Bounds from EA, King of Fighters from Hudson Soft, Glimmerati from Nokia, Rifts from developer Kevin Siembieda, and Xanadu Next from Falcom. More to come on all of these titles this week from E3. Stay tuned. SOURCE: http://ngage.gamespy.com/articles/513/513746p1.html
Adrian M #2 Posted May 12, 2004 Just in case anyone is wondering, the Falcom title Xanadu Next may be of particular interest to those who played the game Faxanadu on the NES. The game (a 2D side-scrolling RPG type adventure) was the US version of one of the titles from the Japanese "Xanadu" series. Faxanadu debuted in 1989 around the same time when the first Dragon Warrior hit the NES.
liveinabin #3 Posted May 12, 2004 Well, it looks like the N-Gage is finally getting supported. Mind, now that the big boys are taking the handheld market very seriously, I very much doubt the N-Gage will survive.
Adrian M #4 Posted May 12, 2004 Well, it looks like the N-Gage is finally getting supported. Mind, now that the big boys are taking the handheld market very seriously, I very much doubt the N-Gage will survive. Fully understood. But you have to admit, some of the titles coming out (Ashen, Xanadu, Bomberman, Sega Rally, and the upcoming Capcom titles) do seem rather intriguing. Perhaps this will be the handheld for the hardcore, non-mainstream gamer? Let's hope!

Adrian M #6 Posted May 12, 2004 Oh, good grief. Why, Capcom, WHY?! JR Why not? Give the Ngage a chance! I will come June when the QD hits the stores!
Scooterb23 #7 Posted May 12, 2004 I can see it now... Mega Man on the N-Gage...sounds good to me...especially if it is done as a 2D platformer...
Adrian M #8 Posted May 12, 2004 I can see it now... Mega Man on the N-Gage...sounds good to me...especially if it is done as a 2D platformer... That's the spirit! A nice Bionic Commando sequel in 2D would hit the spot as well! Maybe some of the 194X games as well? They'd lend themselves very well to the vertically-oriented screen! Adrian M #11 Posted May 12, 2004 Nokia needs to hurry up and get these out there and available in service plans for $99 or less. It appears that May and June will be the big months for new NGage releases. It has been somewhat sparse up until now...we shall see.
figgler #12 Posted May 13, 2004 Mind, now that the big boys are taking the handheld market very seriously, I very much doubt the N-Gage will survive. Perhaps this will be the handheld for the hardcore, non-mainstream gamer? You're both saying the same thing. The system for the hardcore, non-mainstream gamer = inevitable commercial failure. See: Neo Geo
Raijin Z #13 Posted May 13, 2004 Neo Geo failed in general as a home console because it was a full-fledged arcade unit shoehorned into a console case, almost quite literally, and had a pricetag to match its original form. Neo Geo Pocket failed because it wasn't Gameboy Color. Ngage failed because it was a goddamn taco phone. Ngage 2 can't do much better with PSP and NDS waiting in the wings. The stigma of Ngage 1 will hang too low over NG2. HAY, IT'S A TACO PHONE SUPREME!
shep #14 Posted May 13, 2004 I never noticed the similarities it had with a Taco until you posted such a funny post. Now I must run to my local Taco Bell for I am starving. I think that would be a good endorsement. Remember when they had the caps where if they totaled 64 you could win a N64, however spell out Ngage with caps, and win an Ngage. Cool people rip on it, apparently. Mostly I was just ripping on something, and the ngage was the closest thing available. Despite that, I do think it was designed for said purpose. Saikyo #22 Posted May 13, 2004 How can Hudon Soft make games for it if they have gone bankrupt?? Konami bought them out remember? King of Fighters from Hudson Soft? Dont they mean SNK PLAYMORE?
Adrian M #23 Posted May 13, 2004 How can Hudon Soft make games for it if they have gone bankrupt?? Konami bought them out remember? King of Fighters from Hudson Soft? Dont they mean SNK PLAYMORE? I'm not sure...I do know that Hudson did make a return to the console market with the DC (they released that obscure title I-Spy) and that they are currently releasing games for GC and PS2. KOF should be an SNK PLaymore title, but like the GBA releases, Hudson may just be the publisher or something of that nature.
liveinabin #24 Posted May 13, 2004 fuck the ngage, it's another POS for trendy fucks that want to be |_33+, you know, like the ipod I have to say, image aside, the iPod is an awesome piece of design and engineering. Unlike most 'gadgets of the moment' the cool factor of the iPod hasn't come about by advertisment, but because of word of mouth - people want one because they're genuinely good. As for the N-Gage, I don't mind it as a games machine, but it's a truly shit mobile phone - the NGage2 seems to make the games interface better but it's even further from the ergonomics of a good phone. I imagine using the N-Gage 3 will be like sticking a dual shock to your ear:)
liquidcross #25 Posted May 13, 2004 I can see it now... Mega Man on the N-Gage...sounds good to me...especially if it is done as a 2D platformer... That would SUCK! ...because then I'd have to buy one.
