StanJr #1 Posted May 14, 2004 No this is NOT a "hate on DKJr" thread. Despite the fact that its a pretty ugly game, I've been playing it a lot lately, and I'm getting kind of good (90K+), but I've hit a difficulty plateau. About 7 rounds in (a round being all 3 levels) the speed of the traps gets completely out of control. I can manage the first two levels ok, but the third (electricity grid) level is impossible. I can't get past the bottom level. Anybody else stomach this game long enough to make it this far? And if so, any tips?
D.Yancey #2 Posted May 14, 2004 I played it about a year ago and got to about... the same level as you (maybe a little less)and gave up when I saw the extreme speeds you're talking about. It seems nearly impossible to climb some of the vines without getting hit. The gaps between snap jaws are sooooo short. Whew!! I have no hints now, but maybe I'll pick it up again someday. Good luck at it.
atari_wizard #3 Posted May 15, 2004 it gets way hard. can't hang at that level.
adams_ale #4 Posted May 16, 2004 can't get past the third level the first time around. I've taken the tip to wait for both enemies to pass me on the bottom platform, but as soon as I jump on the vine to get to the second platform the sucker gets me. Can't jump off quick enough. I gave up on this title.
StanJr #5 Posted May 17, 2004 the trick is, early on, to wait for them to land on the platform, then jump over the one coming at you, then jump to the chain, wait for the next ones to land on that platform, then jump up there, repeat.. Its not too bad if you just keep at it.
Stingray #6 Posted May 17, 2004 I can't get past the first level. I'm pretty bad at the 7800 and arcade versions too. -S
Tempest #7 Posted May 17, 2004 I didn't even know there WAS a 3rd level in the 2600 version. It was so bad I shut it off after seeing the opening screen (I grew up with the 8-bit version). Can someone take a screenshot? I'm curious as to what it looks like now. Tempest

Tempest #9 Posted May 17, 2004 That's not too bad I guess. My only problem is that the snapjaws are so tiny! You can bearly see them! Can anyone hack them into something more plesant looking? Tempest

But, I've never cleared it either.
D.Yancey #12 Posted May 18, 2004 it's 810,000!! When we talk about the third level, I mean the third cycle through all the boards. That would be the 7th screen to begin level 3. I can get past that level IIRC. Levels 5 and 6 seem impossible and that's why I gave up on it. I never submitted a score to TG on this one. I've never even made a recorded run. I still consider myself in novice/practice mode on this one!
