Miner 2 and Espial - screen rolls?

Recommended Posts

Two of the AtariAge Roms - Miner 2049er and Espial - cause the screen to roll when I try them on my Cuttle Cart 2. Are these PAL Roms perhaps, or is it just sloppy programming? Thanks for any info!

I am getting the same thing.

I am getting it with 3 games though:

Espial

Miner 2049er. II

Tomcat F14 Flight simulator (absolute)

They all roll like they are pal and I downloaded the roms from the ntsc profile page on atariage.

Also I can't get Andrew Davie's "FuKung" video clip to run on the cc2. I have it set to 3F bankswitch and 78bios startup.

I'm pretty sure Espial (which is a much better Xevious that what Todd Frye turned out) and Miner 2 have goofy numbers of scanlines . . .

Not sure on F-14 Tomcat, though . . .

Does the menu generator detect F14 as a PAL game or NTSC?

Not sure. I didn't have it in my roms when I first ran the menu generator, so I downloaded the ntsc rom from AA and put it on there. The screen comes up, but rolls.

Maybe AA has a pal rom on the ntsc page. :ponder:

Does someone have a known ntsc f14 rom?

I found an Espial ROM that doesn't roll!  (attached)

That one worked for me thanks. I have a Miner 2049er II that works, it is attached.

I think that's actually Miner 2049er Vol. 1 there. Miner Vol 2. starts with the screen with the white mobile elevator in the middle, I think.

I know we can't post this rom here, but I am also having the same problem with Double Dragon 2600. ;)

Hmm, you're right that one is PAL. It looks like someone messed up on the CRC entry for this one. Fortunately, I didn't do that section so I'm off the hook. :D

You'll have to add the real NTSC ROM entry manually until the master list gets updated.

That one works great. :D

I have been putting a lot of stuff in manually, so that isn't a problem. ;)

Thanks a lot :)

Works great here too.

So, has anyone found a "Miner 2049er Vol. 2" that works for them yet?

I've also had no luck with the Starpath "Labyrinth" prototype. I can't get it to run at all.

Seems, that only 3 Roms from Miner 2049er Volume 2 are dumped. 2 are Bad dumps and the last is then maybe PAL. Can't find any one more. :(

Yeah that's right, two are bad and one is PAL. If anyone has a copy of the NTSC Miner 2049 vol2 and a dumper, a ROM dump would be greatly appreciated. I have a dumper but no Miner 2. :(

Your dumper can handle 3F bankswitching? :ponder: :?

Tell me more about it. :D

Come to think of it, I don't believe I have ever tried to dump a 3F game. :ponder:

My dumper can partly handle 3F bankswitching, but I don't think I ever released the version of 7800CTRL where I was experimenting with it. The code would only work with four of the six Tigervision games, and of course there is the problem with fitting the Tigervision cartridges into the 7800 cartridge slot.

Is Miner 2 one of the games that works with the dumper. :)

IIRC the two games that didn't work with my dumper program were Espial and River Patrol. So you should be able to read out the Miner games, if you can fit them into your 7800.
