I'm only slightly aware of the situation that is going on regarding Ocean Depths so I don't feel qualified to say anything about it except that I found the auction description to be out of line, petty, and juvenile. Lars, I'm sorry to hear you feel that way about our Forums (specifically the Atari Jaguar Forum in this case). The name is actually "Historically Speaking Atari", but the "TAEX" name seems to have stuck! I think "all" the forums contribute something, and each have their pros and cons. I don't like our forums being "tainted" as a place "just full of flame wars", which is not accurate - but if you have a problem, please get in touch with one of the moderators, we'd be happy to look into any issue you have. Well sorry, but that's just a pure lie. 99% of the converstations are NOT flamewars and VERY interesting. And I'm participating on the 2 boards, both of them are great. Shaggy the Atarian #7 Posted May 16, 2004 Lars, Many who post regularly over here on AA post on TAEX as well. In the end we're just talking about an old unsuccessful game system. No point to get worked up about it and start bad mouthing others. Like Pocket said, most of what goes on an TAEX has nothing to do with flamewars. To be honest the whole disagreement you had with T-Bird was nothing more than a disagreement, at least from what I read. Why not just leave it with that and continue on with life? I don't want to take sides on the whole issue, but were here to talk about Atari. We're all grateful for the time you take to work on games like Ocean Depths and I hope to score one soon. Lars, I made a comment about the situation on the Historical Speaking and/or TAEX boards and while I support your situation, I don't appreciate your description of those boards as what you are stating above is neither true nor accurate. What I meant was simply, that I can not enjoy a forum where people can post flame wars, like tbird tried to. It wasn't as bad as it used to be on AtariAge or JI2 back in the days, but I'm simply sick of reading flame wars or being a victim of flame wars for my efforts. In the past these flame wars were what ruined JI2 and it almost ruined AtariAge as well... Good thing, that Justclaws took JI2 in his hands and made it a useable forum again, even though it will probably take a long time until it will again be what it used to be. Freedom on forums is very important, but there need to be some restrictions to keep the forums a great and fun place for everybody. As soon as people start flaming, neither posting nor reading posts is fun anymore. At least I see it that way. Except for a few flame wars from time to time, TAEX actually was a quite nice place. I don't know how others feel but I am so tired to hear this and that. Everybody picks on everybody. Get over it. This community would be a much friendlier place if people could jump over their own shadows. And please don't start telling me that T-bird is the same. I had those arguments in Kindergarten the last time. What I said applies to EVERYBODY who feels the need to make someone else bad. Just let it go.
