VidGameKing #26 Posted May 20, 2004 StarFighter, oh wait, that was a movie that sold a game!
Cootster #27 Posted May 21, 2004 Eh, the game came first, IIRC. It was just called Star Raiders II then (just as it was after the movie tanked and Atari dumped the license) . . .
VidGameKing #28 Posted May 21, 2004 I rather enjoyed the movie.
SS #29 Posted May 21, 2004 I liked the movie "Resident Evil" even though I'm not a fan of any of the games. I’ve just always been a sucker for zombie flicks.

Xot #31 Posted May 21, 2004 If we're counting the Pokemon movies, clearly, they're the winner in terms of tying into the games and vice versa. And for the most part, they don't completely suck. Then let's not forget Street Fighter (but not the show) and Fatal Fury. Okay, but note that neither of these had a US theatrical release. Fatal Fury The Movie had no real basis on the game. The lead villian (albeit a pretty cool badass) was a new invention just for the movie and there were very few of the characters in the movie. I haven't seen the first two "mini-movies" in forever so I forgot pretty much everything about them. The animated Street Fighter movie kicks everything's ass!!!! Not only did it tie everything from the games together nicely, but later games borrowed themes, moves and sequences directly from it. I LOVE that movie, but ONLY the uncensored, subtitled Japanese release.
Trip_Cannon #32 Posted May 21, 2004 Everybody tells me that the animated SF2 kicks ass! I should check some of that out one of these days... There's a few animated movies out there for SF2 right? Isn't there an Alpha? Which one should I look at first? On the subject of Street Fighter 2 still, did anybody read the comic book? The first issue I read had M. Bison sending Ryu a box with Ken's head in it. Damn, that's some gruesome sh!t!!!
Nukey Shay #33 Posted May 21, 2004 How about Maniac Mansion? That was a TV show for a while...but I never seemed to catch it Was it any good?
Avid Fan #34 Posted May 21, 2004 Maniac Mansion the show sucked @$$. It had nothing to do with the game (or the sequal). I cant believe that almost everybody forgot about the Spy Hunter movie in development, and Alone in the Dark
Trip_Cannon #35 Posted May 21, 2004 I guess in that case you could count "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"

Also, it has been a long time since I've seen it so you're lucky that I even mentioned Fatal Fury
Xot #37 Posted May 21, 2004 Everybody tells me that the animated SF2 kicks ass! I should check some of that out one of these days... There's a few animated movies out there for SF2 right? Isn't there an Alpha? Which one should I look at first? There's several SF2 animes. There's "Super Street Figther II: Movie," released in the US as "Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie." Try to avoid the US release if possible... Chun Li's shower scene was omitted and even the allegedly "unrated" version has many scenes trimmed or deleted. There's a Street Fighter Alpha movie as well, which is pretty dark and not as faithful to the game mythos, but is worth a look. It focuses primarily on the Ryu/Akuma backstory. Then there's Street Fighter II: V, which was release in ten installments in the US and is an EXCELLENT series, despite the fact that the entire history has been rewritten as the Alpha series. V takes place when the major characters are all in their teens but is very, very good IMO. Finally there's the US Street Fighter II cartoon which originally aired on USA Network. You can safely skip ALL of this. On the subject of Street Fighter 2 still, did anybody read the comic book? The first issue I read had M. Bison sending Ryu a box with Ken's head in it. Damn, that's some gruesome sh!t!!! That was the ten-issue miniseries, right? I think I have all of them and it was pretty bloody and gruesome. In other words, I liked it quite a bit. KaineMaxwell #39 Posted May 24, 2004 I vote for Mortal Kombat as well. Street Fighter was too much like a war movie.
