StanJr #1 Posted May 19, 2004 As some of you may know, for some reason I can ONLY play my VCS with the TAC-2 controller nowadays, and well, my TAC-2 has developed a stutter. When I try to move in any direction, occasionally, the controller will hiccup and I will not move, I have to press again in the same direction. Or sometimes, I'll be going in a direction, and then I will stop and then start again. Needless to say this stutter is killing my ability to play. I've opened it up, cleaned all of the contacts where the little ball hits the metal contacts, I've cleaned the ball, all of the wires are connected properly. I am at a loss. What could be causing the hiccup? Is my TAC-2 dying? Help?
Out_of_Gas #2 Posted May 19, 2004 Maybe the controller jack contacts need cleaning. Just a thought.
Big Player #3 Posted May 19, 2004 @Stan. When did you switch from the Gemstick to the TAC-2 as your everyday controller? Does the TAC-2 work better with Entombed?
StanJr #4 Posted May 19, 2004 last year sometime, and yeah its better for ALL games all around. I literally cannot play games with any other controller any more. Its weird.
Nostalgic #5 Posted May 20, 2004 I'll second praise for the TAC-2. I replaced my original sticks with them years ago and they continue to be very good sticks. The throw is small, the fit is comfortable... I only wish I could use one with modern systems! The only problem I have is the buttons are a bit unresponsive, but I attribute that to age. Do you think cleaning it would help, and if so, with what? (I've got some WD-40 somewhere...)
StanJr #6 Posted May 21, 2004 Yeah, all you need to do is clean it out. Take the bottom off, and remove the buttons, on the bottom of each button is a metal ring (thick), clean it off with 70% or better alcohol. Do the same for the two metal contacts that the button hits when you press it. Most likely they are just dirty, like mine get from time to time. LONG LIVE THE TAC-
