Vectrex controller help

The fire button for minestorm on my vectrex doesnt really work perfect anymore. I really got to push down hard on the button to get a reaction and this wasnt always the case... any of you guys have any recommendations?

Yah. The 4 button wears out as it gets older, as it recieves by far the most use.

 

I think you might can open it and fix it, but it requires damage to the sticker, so I haven't bothered.

Actually, you can heat up the sticker with a hair dryer and it should peel off without damage if you're careful. I've had to do this a time or two.

You don't have to peal off the whole sticker .. just far enough to reach the five screws hidden underneath (four corners and one to the right of the cable).

 

The hair dryer is perfect for getting the glue hot for peeling and then getting really sticky again when putting the label back where it belongs.

 

see www.playvectrex.com for complete disassembly instructions written my me. All you have to do is wipe the contacts off with some alcohol. Go ahead and clean all four button contacts.
