figgler #1 Posted May 20, 2004 I spent my entire evening playing this on Midway Arcade Treasures, hoping to play throught he whole thing. Of course by the time I got to Day 80 I decided that 100 would be the cut off, and it probably ends there anyway right? Wrong, it doesn't. Does this game ever end? I don't think I'll pick it up again for a while as I'm pretty Rampaged out, but..
Trip_Cannon #2 Posted May 20, 2004 I don't know? Which version are you playing? I've played the hell out of the Atari 7800 version and no.. it never ended. I must have destroyed 3 planets in that time!
Gregory DG #3 Posted May 20, 2004 I don't think any of the Rampage games end. That goes for the newer World Tour Rampage games. Unless someone knows different? I'd love to discover that it does end!
figgler #4 Posted May 20, 2004 I think the NES one ends. That's why I assumed the arcade would too. I'm starting to feel like I wasted hours smashing the same bloody buildings over and over and over
Dones #5 Posted May 20, 2004 Wow figgler you sure have endurance! Rampage is a fun game (specially with a pal tagging along) but even 80 rounds of it can be tiresome. So what was the highest level you reached?
Tempest #6 Posted May 20, 2004 I don't know about the arcade version, but the Lynx version has an ending (you cilmb to the top of the company building and get the antidote). I beat it once or twice. Tempest
figgler #7 Posted May 20, 2004 Wow figgler you sure have endurance! Rampage is a fun game (specially with a pal tagging along) but even 80 rounds of it can be tiresome. So what was the highest level you reached? Mindless fun that's for sure. I played up to 103 before going crazy and getting fed up. My advice for anyone looking to waste a night on this is to switch up your characters once in a while. Looking at the same giant gorilla for 50 rounds is enough, letting your character die and switching to another is the only thing that keeps it interesting. Scooterb23 #8 Posted May 20, 2004 I could have sworn that there was an ending, but it was some ridiculous number like 161 levels or something. I gave up on the game at this point: "Oh come on! Joliet doesn't even have buildings this big!! That's it, I'm done with this..."
Trip_Cannon #9 Posted May 20, 2004 161? Damn figgler, you were so close!!!
Scooterb23 #10 Posted May 21, 2004 Apparently, I was just a bit off...according to This SIte there were 768 levels in the arcade version. Like I said, I was just a bit off I don't know if the home versions have that many levels, but here's my issue...are there that many cities to destroy??? Like I said, I stopped because destroying Joliet just didn't excite me...I can't imagine playing until you have destroy towns the size of Amanda, Ohio...(yeah, it's not that big)
Jess Ragan #11 Posted May 21, 2004 I think the NES one ends. Yes... AFTER 255 ROUNDS. The other versions of Rampage were fun, but Rampage on the NES was a total bore. It just went on and on and on, like the Energizer bunny but with all the boredom of Ben Stein on valium. JR
BassGuitari #12 Posted May 21, 2004 The 7800 game sometimes mentions something about the ramage lasting for 132 (I think) days during the Dateline blurb between levels...
chrisbid #13 Posted May 21, 2004 the NES version ending... the whole map turns black, and the screen flashes Congratulations! werst ending evar
Rockin' Kat #14 Posted May 21, 2004 I've reached the ending in both Sega Master System Rampage and N64 Rampage World Tour. In fact I have an N64 Memory card with a save file that's on the last day. If I play through it I can see the ending sequence oveer and over again.... I think it was like 160 days or something.
Rockin' Kat #15 Posted May 21, 2004 The ending for Sega Master System Rampage had the characters doing something... I can't remember what but I know I thought it was a cool ending sequence. That's too bad the NES version just flashed the screen over again. I've never played NES Rampage (Ralph the wolf is my fav charactor to play as so that version just sucks)
Trip_Cannon #16 Posted May 21, 2004 Apparently, I was just a bit off...according to This SIte there were 768 levels in the arcade version. Who the hell is gonna play Rampage for 768 levels?!
figgler #17 Posted May 21, 2004 Apparently, I was just a bit off...according to This SIte there were 768 levels in the arcade version. Who the hell is gonna play Rampage for 768 levels?! No one. That's utterly ridiculous, not to mention it's outright theivery. Think of it this way - to get to 103 the other night took me approx 2.5 hours and probably 6.50 in fake credits. So too actually finish arcade Rampage, we're looking at about 15 hours of constant play time and maybe $50 in "quarters". That kind of longevity is just not going to happen (unless you're Todd Rogers) and to shell out that kind of cash (assuming you're playing in a real arcade) is outrageous. What a scam

BigFairy321 #19 Posted May 22, 2004 ... spent hours on the c64 version when i was young, and couldnt finish it...... and then lol, when i had it on my n64, my girfriend spent virtually 6 hours playing rampage world tour, lol, all she could say was does this ever finish ...........she wasnt very happy..... Jess Ragan #20 Posted May 22, 2004 That's too bad the NES version just flashed the screen over again. I've never played NES Rampage (Ralph the wolf is my fav charactor to play as so that version just sucks) You're right, it does. It takes the tedium already in Rampage to the next level. You won't believe just how dull they managed to make the game. Games like Rampage on the NES are why I don't mourn the loss of Data East as a game developer. They can stay dead for all I care! Scooterb23 #21 Posted May 22, 2004 You ever been to Joliet? The real question that should be asked is "Are ALL of Chicago's buildings this small?" Thought that might get a rise out of you I am serious though...when I got to the Joliet level I realized the game had run out of ideas... And I think I was in Joliet once...unfortunately I had to yawn at that precise moment, and missed it

Balloon Fight #23 Posted May 23, 2004 The only Rampage I ever finished was World Tour on N64. That must have taken me 5 or 6 hours on non-stop carnage, but at least I finished the game.
KaineMaxwell #24 Posted May 24, 2004 Wouldn't 255 have bene the limit int he arcade, not only the NES version too?
SwedenLynxer #25 Posted May 25, 2004 Rampage for Atari Lynx does have an ending. I have played through the game a couple of times You just have to be carefull at the end and don't let the professor slip away.
