AlexKIDD #1 Posted May 22, 2004 i just recently got my jag from ebay for $40,it came with 3 games-tempest 2000,checkered flag and cybermorph.tempest is awesome, checkered flag is ok and im not a big fan of cybermorph,it's probably one of those games that was better at the time(i.e. virtua fighter).well anyway i'd like to get some more games.i know i should get alien vs. predator but im holding off on it because of the price.other than that one im not sure,so could you guys recommend some good ones? Kialan #2 Posted May 22, 2004 Rayman and Raiden. Definitely. Rayman-fun adventure game with save points. Raiden-top scrolling shooter..power ups and bosses each level. Got a friend? 2 player simultaneous play!
Punisher5.0 #3 Posted May 22, 2004 I agree with Kialan. Both are great games but Rayman usually goes for a good amount of money. Superburnout, NBA Jam TE, DOOM, and Iron Soldier are some more good games that are cheap.
Gunstar #4 Posted May 22, 2004 Well, we all could sit here and list all the "best" Jag titles like we always do when someone asks, but how about if we take a different approach, since your not looking to spend a lot, you want to make sure the game you get is right for you, right? So, what are your favorite genre(s) of game, and we can suggest the best on the Jag from the catagory(s). That way you'll be sure to get something you'll like. cobracon #6 Posted May 22, 2004 Since you like shooters I would really pick up Raiden, Space Wars 2000, or maybe even Trevor McFur.

Ze_ro #9 Posted May 22, 2004 my favorite genres are shooters, fighting games and RPG's Well, for shooters, Raiden is a total classic... Tempest 2000 is easily one of the best games in the Jaguar's library... and Defender 2000 is yet another great one. Sadly, there aren't a lot of good fighting games available. Ultra Vortek is probably the best, but it's rather disappointing compared to other fighting games of the time. Same goes for Fight For Life, which is a rather mediocre Virtua Fighter knock-off. There isn't much in the way of RPG's either. Towers II is probably about it, and it's tough to find for a good price. --Zero
scrummy #10 Posted May 23, 2004 It's depends a little on your personality, but something about me always likes RUINER pinball, it is in my opinion the best home pinball game. Not because it is accurate or anything else, it just seems very "atari" like, and it has both a creepy factor and a end of the world factor. Also very agree with Super Burnout, that game is very fun and more importantly smooth and fast, you can really get in a rhythm playing it. Just relax to enjoy Cybermorph, it's kinda a chill game, and is amazing that it goes on and on and on.

Gunstar #13 Posted May 24, 2004 scrummy, what is the game in your avatar? im assuming it is a jaguar game and it looks nice Looks like the updated Missile Command from the Hasbro-Atari days. Yeah, that's probably a misslecommand remake, hack or clone, but maybe scrummy made it? Anyway, if that pic looks good to you, then DEFINATELY get MISSLECOMMAND 3D, it has a 3D version that looks FAR better than that pic of scrummies, plus, it has the original arcade version and the totally awsome VR Misslecommand with 360 degrees of shooter heaven with fantastic polygon graphics. Gunstar #14 Posted May 24, 2004 here's AtariAge's screen shots, which don't do the game justice, but you get the idea: http://www.atariage.com/screenshot_page.ht...peID=SCREENSHOT
scrummy #15 Posted May 25, 2004 I wish that it was a game I had made. I dream of a high resolution wicked fast 60 fps 2-D Missile Command. http://www.357batteries.com/titfos.html Click the link above for a larger view of Missile Command NIGH. Gunstar: I've thought about getting Missile Command 3D but to me the screen shots look awful. The classic version looks worse than my Atari 800 version at home, that I have played since 1984. I would love to be wrong about this game. Please let me know what it is that is not captured in the photos. And please turn my artwork for Missile Command Nigh into a JAG game. I think the JAG should have had great high res version of all the classic games.

I think the JAG should have had great high res version of all the classic games. I don't know what to tell you, I can't imagine why you think the atari 8-bit version looks better than the Jaguar version, since the Jaguar Misslecommand is VERY close to the original arcade in game play and IDENTICAL in graphics, which is better than the 8-bit graphics. What are you missing in the bad screenshots? Animation for one, sound for another, gameplay for another, and those screenshots are like taken at times when the levels are basically empty, so it gives the impression of a very empty game, which is just not the case, all three version on MC3D have TONS of stuff going on, ohh, and by the way, the original and 3D version DO run at 60fps, only the VR is less, but still respectable at aprox. 20-25fps I'd guess. NEVER judge a book by it's cover OR video games buy their screenshots.
scrummy #17 Posted May 26, 2004 Well thanks Gunstar, that one will go on the need to buy list. Also I need Breakout 2000. The thing I liked about the Atari 800 Missile command was that the color frequencies would start playing off each other in the latter levels and it was like experiencing the radiation poisoning first hand. do you remember the pink levels and after with those thick veins raining down from the sky, fat black lines ending in destruction and if you are lucky 10000 points during every wave to keep it all going. I think that things should get weird in such a game. Thanks for your reccomendation.I can't wait to see this game. Anyone selling a copy?
Gunstar #18 Posted May 28, 2004 There is ONE thing about the 8-bit version, or 5200 version that is better than the Jag version of misslecommand; the ability to use a trackball (and in true analog trackball mode on the 8-bit, the 5200 is analog too of course). But if you've never used a trackball with the 8-bit version, then you won't be missing anything, the Jag controller is better than the old atari sticks.
